It had been 3 months, Steve and I were still going strong and everything was great. We were getting really close and everyone said it was super-fast but we didn't care we just knew it felt right. I was lying in bed napping in between my shifts at work since I offered to work a double but I had time for a 3-hour nap. I was somewhat awake when I heard my front door open.
"Gemma?" I heard Steve's voice call out. This didn't shock me that he let himself in, he knew where my spare key was. Usually I loved his surprise visits but not when I had to work a double and wanted sleep. I walked downstairs and saw Jensen holding a takeout bag from my favorite Italian place and bottle of wine.
"Did we have a date that I forget to cancel?" I questioned and Steve hung his head and that proved I did.
"I can't believe this happened again. Steve, I got asked to work a double like 3 days ago. We have both just been so busy at work I forgot." I said.
"Yeah we are both busy and this was our only night together." Steve said and I sighed.
"I know and I will make it up to you I promise." I said.
"Yeah well I'm getting really tired of that line." Steve said a little annoyed.
"Excuse me?" I questioned. This was unlike him, usually he was okay and understanding when dates had to be canceled which was one thing I loved about him.
"Gemma, I have been trying to nail a date down with you for 2 weeks but your work schedule...-" Steve started to say.
"Whoa hold the phone, it's not just my job. This is about yours too." I said interrupting Steve and he half nodded.
"Okay but I can't help fires." Steve said.
"And I can't help traumas and patients." I replied and we both just looked at each other. I knew this was new for us, we never argued and always thought things were perfect. It just took this long for things to come boiling to a head.
"So basically what you are saying is we will never find a time to go out on a date again?" Steve said.
"Steve come on that's a little farfetched I mean we will find a time. Why don't you come have breakfast with me in the morning when I get off." I said and Steve shook his head.
"I have to be at the fire station by 5:30 in the morning." Steve said and I sighed.
"Well I am off the next 2 nights, we can do something then." I said.
"I have overnight duty at the fire station for the next week." Steve replied and I started to think he was right and this was hopeless.
"You don't know how bad I feel right now...-" I started to say.
"You're right I don't. I do know though that I'm crushed because all I want to do is spend time with you." Steve said and I knew he was right and I felt the same way. I sighed.
"Wait here, I will be right back." I said and headed upstairs and grabbed my phone.
"Hey, what's up?" Nat asked answering her phone.
"How much do you love me?" I questioned.
"Depends....what happened?" Nat asked. She was off that night and I knew I would owe her big if she agreed to this.
"I offered to work a double at work and forgot about a date Steve and I had planned." I explained.
"Gemma seriously?! Again?!" Nat asked and I groaned.
"Okay stop making me feel worse than I already do." I said annoyed.
"So are you calling to see if I would work your shift tonight?" Nat asked.
"Yes please." I said and I heard Nat sigh.
"I will cover your shift. You deserve the time with Steve." Nat said and I smiled.
"Thank you so much." I said excited and hung up. I changed into some jeans and a T-shirt really quick and headed downstairs. Steve saw my appearance and just looked at me.
"What did you do?" Steve asked shocked.
"I called in reinforcements." I said and Steve looked at me confused then nodded.
"You called Nat?" Steve asked and I nodded.
"Well good because I don't know when we will get another date night." Steve said and I just looked at him as we headed into the kitchen to open the bottle of wine and got stuff for dinner.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I questioned and Steve sighed.
"When Sam left he took like 4 guys with him so we are shorthanded and until we hire their replacements which we have to wait for the training academy to be done I will have work extra hours and extra days." Steve said as I opened the bottle of wine and he got plates to put the Italian food on.
"So we better make the most of tonight is what you are saying?" I questioned with a smile and Steve smiled and nodded. He set everything down on the counter and walked over to me placing his hands on my hips.
"That's exactly what I am saying." Steve said, leaning in passionately kissing me. I set the bottle of wine on the counter mid kiss and then wrapped my arms around his neck. Steve lifted me up and placed me on the counter and started kissing my neck, this was new territory for us. Steve lifted me up from the counter and carried me with my legs around his waist to the couch. He gently laid me down and as our lips broke apart he took of my shirt off as I did the same to him. As we made out Steve and I continued to undress to the point he was in his boxers and I was just in my underwear. He continued to kiss me and moved back down to my neck then to my chest. He reached behind me and unhooked my bra, as he slid it off he took a nipple in his mouth and started swirling his tongue and I bucked up to him. He continued down my body and I felt his fingers hook my panties and moved them down. He lifted a leg of mind and placed it over his shoulder as his head disappeared between my legs. I felt him placed 2 fingers in me and start swirling them. Before I could moan even react I felt Steve start sucking my clit and I clench the couch cushion moaning.
"Steve..." I moaned out reaching down to grabbed his hair causing him to grunt which I felt the vibration on and I moaned even louder. I felt my fingers clenching around his fingers as he swirled them around. I felt everything inside of me tense up as my legs started shaking as I released. Once I was fully released Steve kissed up my body and then met my lips again and I smiled at him. I reached down and removed his boxers as we made out, I reached between us and started stroking him and he groaned as he placed his face in my neck and started kissing. Steve then lifted me up as he sat me in his lap to straddle him. I placed my arms around his neck and slid down slowly on him. Steve rolled his head back as he grabbed my hips and I smiled as I slowly started moving on him. Steve looked back at me and I smiled as I leaned down and passionately kissed him. As we broke apart I nipped at his bottom lip and he smirked at me as he bucked up his hip and I moaned. As I was moving on him I felt myself starting to tighten on his as he swelled. He grunted at the tightness. I started moving faster on him as I felt myself release as Steve did as well. Once we were both released. I laid my forehead on his shoulder as he just held on to me as we caught our breath. We had gone this far yet in our relationship and we knew now things would change.
