Steve and I had fallen asleep after sex and we were just so comfortable. I woke up before he did and found some comfy shorts and a tank top in my bag and put them on. I went into the kitchen and figured I could start planning dinner and make a small lunch. As I was cooking some simple grilled cheese I heard someone clear their throat behind me.

"You should have woke me up." Steve said and I handed him a plate with a grilled cheese.

"No, you looked so peaceful I didn't want to wake you." I said and grabbed my plate and sat next him at the kitchen island.

"I also started dinner in the crock pot. When did you have time to go shopping?" I questioned taking a bite of my sandwich.

"Right after you went to work. I went to the store and then came here to clean up and put everything away. I haven't been up here in about a year so it clearly needed cleaned." Steve said and we both laughed.

"Why haven't you been here in a year?" I questioned and Steve just shook his head.

"That's when I was forced to take some time off work because I hadn't had a vacation in 2 years and I knew if I came here I wouldn't think about work." Steve said and I nodded.

"I don't think I will ever want to go back after being here." I said looking out the big window at the lake. Steve huffed a laugh.

"I mean I guess we wouldn't have to go back, but how would we make a living?" Steve asked and I shrugged.

"We could figure it out eventually." I said and we both laughed.

"Not going to happen, you love the hospital and being a nurse too much like I love being a fireman." Steve said and I nodded.

"Very true. But you do know I love you more." I said and he nodded as he leaned over and kissed me.

"Can we go swimming in the lake?" I questioned and Steve nodded knowing he had Nat pack me a bathing suit.

"Go get changed." Steve said and I practically ran to the bedroom where my suitcase was.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I had been in the water swimming for a little bit and was tired, so we just laid on the beach and relaxed.

"So where is the closest house?" I questioned not seeing any right off the bat.

"Actually, there is one right over there it's just hidden by all of the trees." Steve said pointing and I could barely make out a house, but it was super close. I saw they also had a staircase from their back deck down to the beach.

"Do you know the owner?" I questioned.

"Uh, yeah I know them." Steve said not wanting to answer. I just looked at him.

"Steve...." I said and he looked at me. Even though I had sunglasses on I knew he would see me wanting more info.

"The daughter of the people that own it and I used to date. It's been over for almost 2 and half years and there is nothing to it." Steve said and I half nodded.

"Nothing to it meaning you haven't seen her since you broke up?" I questioned.

"Yeah. It's fine you have nothing to worry about, I hear she is engaged, soon to be married. She didn't like me being a fireman knowing the dangers so we broke it off when I wouldn't get another job. She found a surgeon and she is happy." Steve explained and I nodded. I believed him I just didn't like that it was someone who stayed that close.

"Hey, you have nothing to worry about." Steve said again reassuring me. I smiled at him.

"I know, I'm fine. And anyways I have you all to myself now." I said with a slight laugh and leaned in and kissed Steve.
