Uni Reunion (A Nick & Charlie Story)

Chapter 8

*brinnnnngg*

The alarms make Charlie jump awake in my arms, which causes me to wake with him. We both come to realise we fell asleep above the covers, so the cold shivers pass over us- I immediately rub Charlie's shoulders to warm him up.

"Is this warming you any?" He looks at me giggling.

"Yes, but other things would warm me up quicker" Nick raises his eyebrows.

"WOW" I say loud enough, rolling my eyes and looking away playfully.

Charlie laughs sitting up onto his elbow, hovering above me with a heavy cheeky smile.

"What?" He questions with a cackle tone.

"Just wow" I state, he's a chancer but I love him for it.

He snickers at me about to sit up fully.

"Well, if you're not interested..." He states about to sit up but I grab his t-shirt sleeve and drag him back towards but change to shove him back onto the bed, I'm the one hovering above him this time. I lean down so we're nose to nose.

"I will always be interested, Charlie Spring" I kiss him on the lips, licking his bottom lip asking for entrance...I grab his bottom lip between my teeth- he groans in response.

"But I am also being a dick right now because you got to get ready... unfortunately," He groans with sadness this time.

"I know, time flew by too quick for me too... " It kills me inside that he's sad, but considering I know what's to come, I am hopeful it will all be worth it.

"Come on my love, let's get stuff sorted" He nods getting up off the bed and we start to sort our bags, I pack my backpack to go back to my dorm room, alone... Charlie re-packs his backpack to go back to Kent with mum.

We leave the hotel room behind, and head downstairs, we're hand in hand but the atmosphere is quiet. I squeeze his hand, and he looks up at me- smiles brightly but not convincingly and squeezes my hand back.

I knew my mum was already downstairs waiting for us as she said she was getting the 8:30 breakfast combo before leaving, as I knew Charlie didn't eat much of anything that early in the morning, I thought it would be a good idea that he got a little extra sleep and that way I could keep him in my arms longer, selfishly.

Stepping into the lift and pressing the ground floor button... I pull Charlie into my arms, he turns into my chest and we stay there silently... just slowly breathing in each other's scents, not wanting to go of each other.

The lift dings...

We see my Mum waiting nearby; she stands to greet us.

"Morning boys... you ready to go, Charlie?" He slowly nods, putting on his best smile- Mum ignores it as she knows he's really sad to leave, but she respects him enough not to ask him what's wrong as she clearly knows.

"I hate leaving this early son, but I've got work tomorrow and I promised Charlie's Dad that I would get him before late lunchtime" I both nod and bring Charlie into a side hug, reassuring him silently that he hopefully should be okay.

"2 minutes Mum" She nods and heads out the front of the hotel building.

"Come on Mon Amour" I've said those words enough times and translated them enough that Charlie has learned them. We head outside the building but wait a few feet away from my Mum's car.

"Listen, baby, you've no idea how sad I am that you're leaving. I wish I could back with you- but once I am done with university. You best believe that I am all yours for as long as you'll have me. I won't ever leave your side, you hear me?" He looks at me, his eyes gleaming with half happy - half sadness.

I lift my hands up to my love's face and hold him close to me.

"Can I kiss you before you go?" I could sense he was really upset, so asking for permission was the best way to go, I've always known that.

"You can kiss me whenever you want, I'll always accept" He smiles proudly at me, so I lean down connecting our lips together in a tender sweet lingering passionate kiss.

I hated the fact that Charlie and Mum had to leave today- it only meant that I had a further 6 months before I could see either of them. With Charlie coming today, meant any future plans got moved.

After reluctantly letting Charlie go from my embrace, I sigh, placing my forehead against his.

"I love you, Charlie, so much" He nods, agreeing.

"I love you too, Nick, you've no idea" He lifts his head away from mines and slowly backs away to the car, Mum is walking past Charlie, she pats his shoulder and tells him she'll be back in a second, he nods passing by her and gets into the front seat.

"You going to be okay son, walking back, we can drive you back?" I look past her into the car, Charlie's sadness clouds over him, it's breaking my heart to see him like that.

"Nah, I want to walk, get some peace and quiet before I get back to my dorm room but Mum... please make sure this party is what he wants, I'll pick a ring over the next couple of weeks and I'll send the money over for it, can you pick it up and keep it at yours and keep it hidden?" She doesn't say much but silently nods.

"I need this to be perfect for him, he deserves nothing less... he doesn't even realise how much I love him; he says he does, but I don't think he does. I hate that I have to stay here and finish Uni" Mum nods frantically and pulls me into a hug, I break down in tears on her shoulder. She's gently sobbing into my shoulder as-well.

"I just love him so much Mum; I want these 6 months to pass by so fucking quick it hurts" She pulls away from the hug and brings both her hands to hold my head between them and brings my forehead to her lips to leave a gentle but salty kiss as her face and lips were covered in her own tears.

"I know baby, Uni will be over soon, and you'll be back home with us. I know you will. I will keep you updated over the coming weeks regarding this surprise" I nod smiling and shove my face back into her shoulder... I sniffle into her jacket, she could tell I was really hurt with them leaving, so she continued to hold me there for a few more seconds.

"Okay son, I'm sorry, but I have to go... are you sure you're going to be, okay?" I nod, wiping my face quickly before anyone could see.

"Yeah, I need to walk this off and get myself back into a routine for tomorrow's classes... I've got earphones for music, I need some time alone when you two leave" She nods, kisses my forehead once more and fixes my fringe with her fingers, getting a gentle laugh from me.

"I love you Nicholas, stay safe for me, for Charlie" I nod, my eyes glossing over...

"I love you too, Mum... tell Charlie I love him too?" She presses her lips together.

"I will" She whines and brings me into another hug before hastily leaving.

I silently and sadly watch as Mum climbs into the driver's seat, Charlie looks out to see me, I lift my hand to wave and he does his geeky wave back- I bite my lip to avoid tearing up again... I love that boy so fucking much. Mum reverses out of the parking lot and drives off, taking my future with her.

I let myself fall back onto the wall just behind me, covering my face with my hands, I let the rest of the tears fall before heading back to the dorm.

These 6 months better fucking go by faster than the speed of sound.
