Poisoned Flower
Poem by Vince Ylaya
You gave me a flower,
But after I touched it,
I poisoned the flower.
It was disbelief that crept into your face,
But you took the flower from the ground and kept it in a vase.
You gave me another flower,
but then again, I poisoned the flower.
You came back the next day bringing some flowers,
I touched it, and again I poisoned the flower.
After months of you giving me flowers,
There's a knock on the door,
I opened it,
It was your ex-lover,
bringing me some flowers,
I took it, and surprisingly,
I didn't poison the flower,
I looked into his face,
it was full of happiness,
no signs of sadness.
I realized why I poisoned the flower you gave me before,
It was a sign of a toxic relationship and not forevermore.
I realized that even though how handsome you were, and how much of a God were you,
the universe still gave me a clue,
we're not good for each other and won't last forever.
I somehow know who to trust, knowing that I can poison a flower
If the person who gives it to me is toxic and plastic.
I kind of know the tactic.
So if you want me to trust you,
give me a flower,
and clean up your intentions,
so that there's no poison flower.
Poison Flower (Back Story)
The poem is about a toxic guy and his ex-lover that's courting the same person, and that person has some sort of special power to know if someone's soul is pure and not toxic.
