A week had past Harley had successfully kept her head down. Well so she thought. Someone had been watching her from afar. She'd had the feeling for the past week but decided to try and ignore it. She hadn't done anything to risk exposure to herself or her kind. She was extra careful when it came to who she spoke to.

"So, what do you know about the Cullens?" Bella queried.
"The Cullens? Never heard of them why?" Harley answered not looking up from her book.
"Surely you have? They go to our school, Jessica said they were weird but I want to know more, I met Edward on my first day, he acted so shallow towards me and then he didn't show up for many days and now he's back! I need to confront him but I don't know what to say to him"
"Of course you do Bella. Personally I would just leave them to do what they do. Stop worrying about them, you're getting wrinkles.
But if you really want to talk to him then just go up to him what's the worse that could happen?" Harley finally peeked up from her book smirking at Bella as the brunette mortal frantically started feeling around her face. This made Harleys smirk grow larger.

"You know come to think of it, I've never seen you eat lunch? Surely you must be hungry? Actually come to think of it I've never seen any of the Cullens eat either? What's that about?" She asked.
"I had a big breakfast this morning. So I'm good".
Harley murmured, she had mastered the art of lying through her teeth, you get pretty good at things when you've lived long enough to practice them. I suppose she wasn't telling a complete lie, she did have a mountain lion for breakfast this morning.

She heard the deafening sounds of the bell. It was a lot worse with super hearing.
Saved by the Bell, Harley thought.
"I have to go. I'll see you around Bella" Harley left sharply and sped to her last class. She knew she had to be even more careful now. Bella looked confused as to why the brunette had left so quickly but didn't question it.

School, thankfully flew by and Harley was sure glad about that.

Everything happened so fast. One minute Harley was walking out of school the next she's witnessing a near death involving a van and Bella. The weather conditions were icy, hence why she didn't dive to school herself. The van spun out of control but before it could hit Bella, Edward Cullen sprinted from the other side of the carpark  and stopped the van with his bare hand. Creating a huge dent in the side.

In that moment Harley knew the Cullen's weren't like everyone else. She had figured out that they were like her. Vampires. She recognised the unhuman like strength and their porcelain skin from a mile away. Bella had told her Edward had black eyes they first time she's met him and now they were a golden colour.

She quickly ditched the scene, hoping no one saw her see anything. She realised that if they found out about her they'd for sure turn her in to the Volturi, vampires like her, lonesome ones, are deemed as a threat due to potential exposure to humans if they're not careful, usually they're a threat to humans being on their own they don't develop any behaviour skills, their one motive is to kill humans.

About an hour or so later that afternoon Harley arrived at the hospital to check to see if Bella was okay, just because she fled doesn't mean she wasn't worried about her only friend. She saw Bella as a friend, they only person who didn't think she was weird for keeping herself to herself. She didn't push her for answers thankfully. Well not like she did with Edward, apparently she was quite relentless.

"Bella! Bella! Are you okay? How's your head?" Harley rushed into the room where Bella was been seen to, a dark haired man and a pale, blond haired man were around Bella.

"Who are you?" The dark haired man asked
"Uh I'm a friend of Bella's from school, I heard what happened and wanted to make sure she was okay!" I rushed
"Dad it's okay, Harley is fine" Bella spoke up.
"We'll I'll leave you two and go and sign the release papers" her dad said. Bella told me that was her Dad, Charlie and the other man was Carlisle Cullen, who looked at me at me for a short moment before he followed chief Swan out of the room.

"What happened back there?" Harley asked her human friend.
"I don't know all I know-
"I'm really sorry Bella" the boy who nearly killed her said. Harley scowled and aggressively pulled the curtain creating a separation between the two girls and the boy.
"Edward, stopped the van with his bare hand! Thats weird right? You saw him at the other end of the parking lot right?" Bella asked.
"I can't say I saw him that far away from you. He was standing pretty close to you Bella, him and his family were. As for the dent I'm sure it was just adrenaline" Harley knew what she saw but she couldn't tell Bella that. Bella just huffed in annoyance.

Harley felt she had overstayed her welcome so she said her goodbyes to Bella and left the hospital, hands in her pocket, even though she was ice cold, didn't mean she didn't feel the cold weather.

"Hars! Wait. I spoke to Edward. He said the same thing about being close to me in the parking lot. But I know he wasn't!" Bella exclaimed quietly. As the boy she was talking about was standing not too far away with his sister Rosalie.
"Just leave it Bella! I'm sure his reasoning is perfectly justified!" Harley said not looking back. Harley glanced in the fellow vampires direction as they looked back at her before looking ahead and walking home. They were talking about how close they had come to human exposure, Rosalie was angry mainly at Edward and Carlisle was just trying to keep the peace between the two.

It didn't take Harley long to get back to her small cottage, where she sat on her sofa and binge watched all the reality tv she could possibly watch before realising it was morning again. Thankfully it was the weekend, she could do whatever she pleased and didn't have to worry about anyone else.
