Since his meeting with Hades, a week had passed, and Atticus found himself exceedingly bored. Meanwhile Dianthus, who kept leaving for work after dinner and coming back at ridiculous hours, looked increasingly more tired each day. Atticus decided not to bother him with requests or outings, so he simply made meals and either watched TV or entertained himself with a book.

On the seventh day of boredom, Dianthus emerged from his room after sleeping just over 3 hours. Yawning, he took a seat on a countertop chair while Atticus served him lunch.

"I'm sorry that you haven't been out all week," Dianthus deep voice spoke, startling Atticus slightly. "I only have one more day of night meetings, and then we'll be able to start doing some activities." he explained.

Atticus nodded, "I'm glad." He glanced over to Dianthus who looked like he was barely holding his head up.

He was right. After eating most of his lunch, he rested his head on the countertop, his arms folded underneath acting as a makeshift pillow.

"Tell me about your life," he asked, sleepily.

Atticus paused eating, taken aback slightly by the out-of-place question, but then resumed.

"Well, I'm 20. I was born on December 9th and have- had a sister who is 10" Atticus corrected himself, given the circumstances. "I lived in the United States for most of my life, but then moved to London a year ago to pursue engineering." Atticus was unsure if this made any sense to Dianthus, seeing as he had never been to the human world, so tried to generalise what he told him next.

"My mum was an interior designer, and my dad is an architect. We used to listen to music a lot as a family, especially in winter in front of the fireplace, because, in America, it snows during winter." Atticus reminisced. "Do you know what snow looks like?"

He looked over to Dianthus, to see if he was understanding what he had said so far, though he was sound asleep, his back rising and falling steadily with each breath. Atticus cleaned up once he finished eating, placing the plates in the sink, and wiping the counter clean. Deciding to let Dianthus get some more well-earned sleep, he wandered over to the bookshelf and selected a book at random. Looking at the hunter green cover, it displayed 'Circe'. He took a seat next to Dianthus quietly, carefully not to disturb him, and began reading.
