Dianthus and Atticus sat on their joint throne in the Underworld meeting room. Two men and one woman stood in front of them.
"Where are the numbers at for this week?" Dianthus inquired.
"Well, they were a little high last week, but they've stabilised again this week. So overall, everything's good, sir!".
"Great, you're dismissed," Dianthus told them, as the new Judges of the Underworld bowed and exited the room.
One of the first things the couple had done was get rid of the dreadful original Judges of the Underworld. It was originally Dianthus' idea, but Atticus wholeheartedly backed him. After much consideration, it was Atticus' idea to have one angel from Elysium, one devil from the Underworld, and a caretaker from the Fields of Asphodel, having a representative from each place.
Dianthus moved his arm towards Atticus' throne and reached for his hand, intertwining their fingers as Atticus finished up the paperwork he was working on. They had decided to divide the workloads into two; Dianthus was in charge of addressing anyone who needed assistance and ordering people around, as he was the better one at talking to people and had more experience with those in the Underworld. Atticus completed all the paperwork, and additionally, oversaw any new construction and design decisions; the appointed engineer of the Underworld.
The couple held hands, enjoying the peaceful silence, only interrupted by the distant, occasional sounds of footsteps. Signing the final paper, Atticus put down his pen, moving to Dianthus' throne, and took a seat on his lap with his legs draped over the armrests, adapting Hades' usual seating position.
"Di, I'm really tired. Can we go back home soon?" he asked, resting his head on Dianthus' chest dozily.
Dianthus smiled down, "Of course, we'll go now.".
Together, they closed up the meeting room and walked to their apartment. Shortly after Hades' departure, he sent a note of things that they could do, one of which was move into his old mansion, which had been cleaned out, with new flooring, and furniture, and was repainted. However, Atticus and Dianthus opted to keep the same apartment, with the alteration that they merge the guest and main bedroom, to form a large, singular bedroom. Some things never change, but thankfully, some things do.
Arriving at the apartment, the two changed out of their clothes. Dianthus sneakily wrapped his arms around the younger male's torso, biting his neck gently as Atticus moaned softly in reply.
"Not today, baby. I'm about to fall asleep on my feet." Atticus murmured.
Dianthus made a disappointed noise, as he lazily wrapped his arms around his shoulders instead. The two then climbed into their King-sized bed, fit for the two Kings. Atticus rested his head on Dianthus' chest, feeling his lover's arm wrap around his back and rest on his shoulder. Their legs intertwined, wanting every inch of each other. Dianthus shifted slightly, placing kisses starting from Atticus' temple and continuing down to his neck. After finishing this routine, he placed one last kiss on his lips, feeling Atticus lazily return it.
"I love you, Atticus," Dianthus whispered, closing his eyes.
"I love you too, Dianthus," Atticus replied.
And with that, the couple drifted off to sleep.
