Chapter One
I stared at the door, my body unable to move. I looked at the book I was reading, Stephen King. But that didn't make sense to my dream. "Alex! Open the damn door now!!" Where were her keys? I looked around the apartment and my eyes came in contact with a shiny silver knife. I grabbed it. I went up next to the door.
"Your not my mom." I said bravely. "Sweetie I left my keys at work. Just open the door and I'll explain everything." It said. I gripped the knife. "No, my mom doesn't get off til 12, and your an hour early if your trying to be my mother. Plus my own mother doesn't just forget her keys." A sinister growl came from just outside the door. I backed up, slowly. The thing started banging on the door. BANG! BANG! BANG! "Open the door, Alex..." It's voice sounded so real, just like my mother's.
My palms were wet with sweat. "Honey, you don't want me to be mad... Do you...?" Her voice was sweet with honey, like overdosing on sugar. BANG!.. BANG!.. BANG! The banging stopped. Could what ever that was.. Did it leave...? The door opened slowly, as it creaked. I backed up a few steps, trying my best to be quiet.
I slowly grabbed my keys and a book bag of stuff. Quietly I tip toed to the door. Still gripping the knife. I stopped .The phone. I ran to it, dialing nine-one-one. I listened. "This service is temporary not available." My heart dropped in my stomach. My cell phone!!! I set the knife down and dialed nine-one-one. I listened and heard the dial tone.
My hands were trembling. I grabbed the knife again and got up and walked toward the door. Curiosity was getting the best of me. I opened the door the rest of the way. Creaking as it did so. I held my breath. I slowly stuck my head out and took a quick look. I didn't see anything or rather anyone.
I jumped as my phone started ringing. "How the Hell..." I looked over my shoulder. I closed the door and locked it, securing it. I let it go to voice mail. But before it could do that both phones were ringing. I put my ear to the phone and all I heard was heavy breathing. "Hello? Is there any one here!?" More heavy breathing. "Alex..." My eyes widened with fear. I hung up and frustrated I pulled the phone out of its socket! "LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" I took my battery out of the phones. I huddled up to my back to the wall and me facing toward the door. I gripped the knife.
I stayed up til 4 o'clock AM. With the phones still ringing even when there are not connected... Even with no batteries or any kind of power, they still were ringing. How ever I ended up falling asleep from exhaustion.
When I woke up the door was wide open. I gasped. "Honey, why did you fall asleep on the floor?" I looked to my right, and my mom was there cooking breakfast. "Mom?! Is that really you...?" She laughed as if she couldn't believe I just said that. I got up and dropped the knife. It stuck pointed end in the wood floors. I ran to her and hugged her tight. She engulfed me. "Alex what's wrong?" She rubbed my hair. "I was so scared mom,.. I had this dream that you were this monster with yellow eyes and you snapped my neck. And when .I woke up at 11, it was daja'vu, and just like my dream you said almost anything to get me to open the door. But I knew it wasn't you.. So i didn't. But then there was this voice and heavy breathing on the phone...!" I said in one quick breath. "Are you feeling alright?" She felt my head, and it was warm. "That's not even the strangest part.. I unplugged the phone and took out there battery.. Look!" I gestured to the phone. It was plugged in, and everything was neat and plain just like how it was.
My head was dizzy and confused. "But mom... I saw it with my own eyes.." She didn't believe me... She didn't.. Believe me.. "Let's get you to bed." "NO!! You don't understand! I saw it with my own eyes! I heard it!" I backed up from her. "Alexandria! That is nonsense. Maybe that's why you weren't answering my phone calls. Are you high?!" My own mother doesn't believe me. Why was this happening?
I felt lightheaded again my footing was heavy. All I remember is passing out. "I love you mom." I remember saying. "Everything will be better once you wake up, sweetie."
I remember waking up from time to time hearing distortions of conversation between my mom and a male. "What do we do?.. He's coming for her. She's already so scared..." I heard a male voice. "We made a mistake and now their isn't anything we can do. I'm sorry Janet." Who is HE?! And why is he after me?.. What did my mom do...?
What ever she did.. With my dad that made them split as a couple.. This could be it.. But what is it that? What did I do?
My head was overcome with all these questions I ended up passing out.
