drunken nights
Billie leaned over the toilet once again, throwing up whatever was left of her breakfast. The brunette had woken up feeling physically sick that morning, her head hurt so much she felt like her head was going to explode, but everything got worse once she heard the news.
She turned the TV on as she made breakfast, even the news sounded better than complete silence. As she ate her breakfast, the reporter of the local news announced breaking news that morning. Will Byers body was found in the quarry. She did not know why, but that made her sick, it sounded wrong, everything about that was wrong.
Once her stomach was empty and she did not feel nauseous anymore, the brunette pulled herself back to her feet. She washed her face, and dragged herself to the kitchen, picking up the phone she hoped her aunt would pick up.
"Hey honey. Are you alright?" Michelle asked her niece once she picked up.
"Yeah, I just...," she took a deep breath, "Is it okay if I just don't go to school today and tomorrow? I feel sick."
"Yes, honey. I will call the school. Please go to the doctor," the older woman asked.
"Thanks auntie. I think a nap should make me feel better. Bye auntie, I love you," the brunette said her goodbyes.
"Bye sweetie. I love you," Michelle said.
Most people thought it was cool that her aunt was gone all the time, but it was hard for Billie. She would never admit it, but she missed her aunt, Michelle was the only family she had, and she knew she could use company sometimes. However, the Mora girl would never tell her aunt that she knew how much the older woman enjoyed traveling, and art dealing was her job so she needed to travel. The brunette kicked her shoes away, and she threw herself on her couch, before she closed her eyes, Billie reached for the TV remote, turning it on a random channel. Sleep was quick to overcome the girl, but Will Byers loomed over the girl's thoughts.
...
Steve felt a warm hand touching his shoulder, the boy didn't bother to take his eyes off the road, he just smiled at his friend. He heard her moving in the backseat, and when he looked in the rearview mirror, he saw his friend's drunken frame trying not to fall back on the seat.
"Have I ever told you that I love you, Stevie?" She asked, squinting trying to see her friend in front of her. Billie could not recall the last time she had drank so much, but tonight stealing her aunt's liquor sounded like the only reasonable thing to do.
Steve smiled at his friend's reflection, "love you too, Bill," he changed his focus to the road again. The streets of Hawkins were always empty, but the colder it got the less people were seen in the streets.
"No, like I really love you," Steve didn't think he had ever heard his friend speak with such emotion, but he had no idea the true meaning behind her words, in truth, neither did she.
Billie laid down on the backseat of Steve's car, hoping to settle her nausea. The Harrington boy reached for his friend, never taking his eyes off the road. He patted her arm, hoping to give her some comfort. "Why did you drink so much?" He asked.
"Like you have never gotten shit faced before," she responded, choosing to stay down, avoiding Steve's sharp eyes. "I just... I just don't see a meaning to anything anymore," she finally let her friend in.
"That's some dark shit bill. You just need to find your thing," the brunette tried to reassure his friend.
The girl held the headrest of Steve's seat, pulling herself up so she could look at her friend through the rearview mirror. "You have Nancy, you have Tommy and Carol. And I'm just messed up," the girl sighted and threw herself back down on the seat.
"You are not," Steve slowed down, so he could look back at his friend.
"Yes I am. I can't sleep, I have nightmares, and I see things now. There is something really fucking wrong with me," Billie told her friend.
"I know what's wrong with you," he said, getting the girl's attention, "you curse too much," Steve joked, trying to lighten up the mood. He smiled as he heard Billie's giggle.
"Steve," she called the boy.
"Yeah?" He smiled in the mirror again, looking at his friend.
"You need to stop this fucking car right now," she announced.
The boy stepped on the brakes, and as soon as the car stopped Billie opened the car door and threw her head out, throwing up all that she had drunk that night. Retching noises were all that could be heard in the middle of the empty road. Steve looked at himself in the mirror, taking a deep breath before opening the driver's door.
"We were almost home," the boy tells himself as he walks around the car. Once he made it to the other side of the car, the brunette had stopped throwing up but she was a mess, her hair was dangerously close to the wet ground, drool fell off her mouth onto her chin, and her hands were dirty from trying to clean her own mouth. "Shit," he whispered to himself, moving to his friend's side, pulling her hair up. "Alright. Let it all out," and with that the brunette started throwing up again.
...
Billie felt cold, and yet sweat clinged to her skin. As the brunette opened her eyes there was only darkness around her, she couldn't see anything aside from a red glow in the horizon. The brown eyed girl used her hands as support to get up from the ground, it spooked her how moist and cold the ground was, it was as if the ground was covered with slime. As soon as she felt the ground Billie pushed herself up, trying to get off the floor as soon as she could, once she was back on her feet her mind was alert, telling her to run.
The noise of her bare feet hitting the ground was the only sound in that dark place, and that terrified the girl. She had no idea where to go, so even though she knew running towards the red glow was not a good idea, she ran towards it.
As she ran the brunette noticed she had entered a town, Hawkins. It looked exactly like her hometown, but it was all wrong, it looked like the towns in one of the apocalyptic movies she liked, but that didn't stop her. Billie ran towards the glow until a loud shriek rang throughout the town, and a dark silhouette appeared in the horizon. Once she saw the creature Billie stopped on her tracks, and she was sure she never felt more scared in her life.
Author's note:
Hey guys, I really hope you enjoy this chapter. I'm so sorry it took me a long time to update, I have been struggling a lot with my mental health so writing has been difficult for me. But I really want to tell this story, so it might take some time but I will!
