Chapter Twelve

Genesis’s P.O.V
It was another day and we were all in Professor McGonagall’s class and once everyone was there and sitting in our seats, Professor McGonagall had gotten our attention, “may I have your attention please. Right now today we will be transforming animals into Water Goblets. Like so, One, Two, Three Veraverto.” she said and the bird she had out turned into a Water Goblet, “now it’s your turn. Well, who would like to go first, ah Mr. Weasley. One, Two, Three Veraverto.” she said as she walked about before stopping at Ron, “Veraverto.” Ron said as it only worked half as well as it was supposed to and I laughed a little, “that wand needs replacing Mr. Weasley.” Professor McGonagall said before Hermione raised her hand, “yes Miss. Granger.” she said before Hermione spoke up, “Professor, I was wondering if you could tell us about the Chamber of Secrets?” Hermione asked her and it took her a moment before speaking up, “alright, very well. Well you all know of course that Hogwarts was founded over a thousand years ago by the four greatest Witches and Wizards of the age. Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. Now three of the founders coexisted quite harmoniously, one did not. Salazar Slytherin wished to be more selective about the school students admitted to Hogwarts. He believed Magical learning should be kept within all magic families in other words, Purebloods. Unable to persuade the others, he decided to leave the school. Now according to legend, Slytherin had built a hidden Chamber in this Castle known as the Chamber of Secrets. Though shortly before departing,  he sealed it until that time when his own true heir returned to the school. The Heir alone would be able to open the chamber and unleash the Horror within and by so doing, purge the school of all thoughts who, in Slytherin’s view, were unworthy to study Magic.” Professor McGonagall told us, “Muggleborns.” Hermione mentioned to her, “Well, naturally the school has been searched many times, no such Chamber has been found.” Professor McGonagall said, “Professor, what exactly does legend tell us lies within the Chamber?” Hermione asked her, “Well the Chamber is said to be home to something that only the Heir of Slytherincan control. It is said to be the home of a monster.” Professor McGonagall said to her and both Hermione and I looked at each other before Professor McGonagall continued with the class.

After class was over for the day, I was walking with Harry, Ron and Hermione as the four of us left the classroom, “do you think it’s true? Do you think there really is a Chamber of Secrets?” Ron asked us, “it’s possible.” I told him, “yes, couldn’t you tell? McGonagall’s worried, all the teachers are.” Hermione said to us, “well if there really is a Chamber of Secrets and it really has been opened, then that means-” Harry said before Hermione spoke up, “then the Heir of Slytherin has returned to Hogwarts. The question is, who is it?” she continued, “but that can be anyone.” I said to them, “let’s think, who do we know who thinks all Muggleborns are scum?” Ron asked as Malfoy walked past us, “if you’re talking about Malfoy.” Hermione suggested, “of course, you heard him. You’ll be the next Mudbloods.” Ron said to her, “Now that he mentions it, he does have a point.” I said to them, “I heard him. But Malfoy, the Heir of Slytherin?” Hermione said to us, “Maybe Ron’s right, Hermione. I mean look at his family, the whole lot of them have been in Slytherin for Centuries.” Harry said to us, “yes but, there are other families who ended up like that as well. It’s pretty much Tradition to them if you think about it.” I said to them, “Crabbe and Goyal must know. Maybe we can trick them into telling.” Ron suggested, “even they aren’t that thick, but there might be another way. Mind you, it would be difficult not to mention we’d be breaking about 50 school rules and it’ll be dangerous, very dangerous.” Hermione said to us, “who cares about school rules, that’s not the problem. If it’s true about what McGonagall said, it could make sense about what Harry heard the other night. What if what he heard is the monster McGonagall told us about in the story she said to us when you asked about it.” I said to Hermione, “it’s a possibility.” she said to us before we followed her and ended up at the Library, “I’ll be right back” she said to us before walking away, “I’m surprised they weren’t able to find the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets when they heard about it. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I think that’s kind of odd. But I guess it would make sense if it was well hidden to begin with.” I said to them, “you do make a fair point I suppose.” Harry said before Hermione came back with a book in her hands, “here it is, the Polyjuice Potion. Properly brewed, the Polyjuice Potion allows the drinker to transform themself temporarily into the physical form of another.” Hermione read out to us, “you mean if Harry and I drink the stuff we’ll turn into Crabbe and Goyal?” Ron asked her, “yes.” she told him, “wicked. Malfoy will tell us anything” Ron said, “exactly. But it’s tricky too, I’ve never seen a more complicated Potion.” Hermione told us, “Well how long will it take to make?” Harry asked her, “a month.” she told him, “A month? But Hermione, if Malfoy is the Heir of Slytherin he could attack Half the Muggleborns in the school by then” Harry told her, “what other choice do we have. If you want to find this out, we have to make it at this point” I told him, “she’s right and it’s the only plan we’ve got.” Hermione told him before we continued to talk about it for a while before finally leaving the Library.

Later that day, after classes were over for the day, I was sitting in the Common Room doing my homework until I was finished and once I closed everything and set it off to the side, I just sat there thinking to myself as I looked out of the window before I noticed Hermione sit down in front of me, “are you alright Genesis?” she asked me and I nodded, “yeah, I’m fine. I’ve just been thinking about all of this.” I told her, “I know all of this is sort of sudden and all of that but I doubt things are going to change much now that it's a possibility about what Professor McGonagall said before.” she said to me, “I guess you’re right.” I told her before my mind drifted to something else instead and after a while, I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard Hermione speak up again, “what are you thinking about now?” she asked me and it took me a moment to think of the words before speaking, “promise you won’t say anything?” I asked her and she nodded, “I promise.” she said before finally telling her how I feel, “it’s about Harry, I kind of like him but I think it might just be a phase.” I told her asI furrowed my brows a little, “look, I don’t know much about stuff like this but most of the time it is but other times it can be genuine. You might never know where these feelings might end up in the end. Remember that alright. But I will keep your secret for you alright.” she said and I nodded before the both of us continued to talk before we went to the Great Hall for dinner that night along with the rest of the school. After dinner was over for the night, everyone left the Great Hall that night and once we made it back to the Common Room that night, I spent the rest of the night with Harry, Ron and Hermione as the Four of us talked and hung out for the rest of the night before we all made our way to our dorms for the night and after getting changed out of robes and into Pajamas and as soon as my head hit the pillow I soon fell asleep for the night.
