Chapter Fifty: Half Blood Prince

Genesis’s P.O.V
Summer was almost over and I had just gotten back from hanging out with Hermione for the day at the Weasley's and I had just gotten inside before it started raining, “did you have a good time?” I heard dad ask me before I found him in the living room, “yeah I did, we just hung out and talked the entire time.” I told him as he read the Daily Prophet and I noticed the front page, “bloody hell, Death Eaters did that.” I said as I looked at the picture of the bridge, “yeah, there were a few injuries but other than that, no one was killed.” he said to me and I sighed before I heard the doorbell and I went to see who it was and as soon as I opened the door, I saw that it was Bellatrix with another woman causing me to raise my wand, “wait, we only came here to talk with your father. Is he here?” the woman said and I didn’t lower my wand, “why should I believe you? You’re the one standing with a criminal.” I said to her before hearing dad speak up, “Genesis, lower your wand. I was expecting them to be here.” he said and I looked at him, “you’re joking right?” I asked him and he shook his head, “no, Narcissa contacted me before she got here.” he said as I looked back at the pair and it took me a moment before I lowered my wand, “do anything and I won’t hesitate to hurt or kill either one of you.” I said to them before walking away and after a few moments, I decided to sit outside the room dad was in with Narcissa and Bellatrix and overheard what they were talking about, “I know I’m not to be here, the Dark Lord himself forbade me to speak of this.” Narcissa said to dad, “if the Dark Lord has forbidden it, you are not to speak. Put it down Bella, we mustn't touch what isn’t ours” dad said to them, “as it so happens I’m aware of your situation, Narcissa.” Dad said to her, “you? The Dark Lord told you? Does your pest of a daughter know about it too?” Bellatrix asked him, “Your sister doubts me. Understandable, over the years I’ve played my part well, so well I’ve deceived one of the greatest Wizards of all time. And don’t ever say that about her again.” Dad said to them before he continued, “Dumbledore is a great Wizard, only a fool would question it.” He said to them, “I don’t doubt you, Severus.” Narcissa said to him before Bellatrix spoke up, “you should be on it Sissy, as should Draco and your daughter should help him.” she said to her Narcissa and dad, “my daughter isn’t doing anything of the sort.” Dad said to Bellatrix, “he’s just a boy,” Narcissa said and I can hear that she didn’t want this for Draco, “I can’t change the Dark Lord's mind. But it might be possible for me to help Draco.” Dad said to her, “Severus-” Narcissa said before Bellatrix cut her off, “swear to it. Make the Unbreakable Vow. it’s just empty words, you’ll give this your best effort when it matters most, he’ll just slither back into his hole. If you do not do this, I will give your daughter endless amounts of suffering to the point she wants to die.” I heard Bellatrix say to dad and I began to shake and felt a few tears slip down my cheeks, “take out your wand” I heard dad say, “will you, Severus Snape, watch over Draco Malfoy as he attempts to fulfill the Dark Lord’s wishes.” Bellatrix said to dad, “I will.” was all dad said to her, “and will you do the best of your ability to protect him from harm?” she said to him, “I will” dad said again, “and if Draco should fail, will you yourself carry out the deed the Dark Lord has ordered Draco to perform?” she said to dad, “I will” dad said again and I soon rushed to my room and I just sat there on the bed and cried until I fell asleep.

When the next day came around and I woke up to see that I was in the same clothes from the day before and once I eventually got out of bed and got changed, I made my way downstairs before finding dad in the kitchen, “why?” I asked him, “what do you mean?” he asked me, “I heard everything from yesterday, between you, Bellatrix and Narcissa. Why?” I said to him, “I wouldn’t have had a choice anyways and neither would Draco because if he did, he wouldn’t be the one doing this and besides, I only made the Unbreakable Vow so that Bellatrix wouldn’t hurt you.” he said to to me, “the Order will find out about this and so will Harry and the others, that is if no one else gets to them before I do.” I said to him, “don’t you dare.” he said to me, “watch me. They deserve to know what's going on whether they believe it or not. I’m going to Diagon Alley to meet the others.” I said to him, “you’re not leaving this house until we’ve talked about this.” he said to me, “what is there to talk about, you’re never going to stop are you? Death Eaters don’t stop doing these things, whether or not Voldemort is around.” I said to him but he said nothing, “that’s what I thought. I’m leaving.” I said to him and I grabbed my things and walked out of the door before Apparating to Diagon Alley and met up with the others, “Hey Harry, How was your Summer so far?” I asked them, “it was alright.” Ron said to me, “the same for me too, I spent the night at the Weasley’s” he said and I smiled, “yeah he came by a little while after you left.” Ron said to me as we walked around Fred and George’s shop for a while and I walked around with Ginny and Hermione, “Ladies.” we heard the twins say as they came up to us while we were looking at the love potions, “Love Potions, eh.” one of them said to us, “yeah, they really do work.” the other told us, “then again, the way we hear it sis and Genesis, the both of you are doing fine on your own.” one told us, “bloody hell, you two are nosey.” I said as I chuckled a little, “meaning?” Ginny asked them, “are you two not currently dating Dean Thomas and Harry Potter?” one of them asked us, “So what? Leave your sister for crying out loud. I’m sure she doesn’t want you poking about.” I said to them, “she’s right, it’s none of your business.” Ginny said to them before walking away and Fred and George had done the same leaving Hermione and Myself alone before I noticed her looking at something and saw that it was Cormack, “I think someone has a thing for you.” I said to her and chuckled a little before we walked away from the Love Potions and met up with Harry as we waited for Ron and once he was done talking to his brothers, we eventually left the shop and made our way outside, “how are Fred and George doing it? Half the Alley is closed down.” Hermione said, wondering, “Fred reckons people need a laugh these days” Ron told us, “I reckon he’s right.” Harry said to him, “that’s a good reason to follow.” I said to him before we noticed Ollivander’s store and the state it was left in, “oh no, everyone got their Wands from Ollivander’s.” Hermione said to us before we walked inside and looked around to see everything was destroyed, “Harry, is it me or do Draco and mummy look like two people who don’t want to be followed.” Ron said as we looked out of the window and saw Draco and his mother standing outside before walking away before Harry walked out of the store, “Harry, where are you going?” I asked him as we followed him as he followed Draco and his Mother to wherever they were going before we saw them walk into Borgin and Burkes and we managed to find a way to see what they were doing as we climbed onto a roof and watched what was going on before Greyback came into view before we had to hide and once we came out of hiding, we saw that the curtains were closed so we decided to get down from the roof and went on after seeing what was going on and went on with our days.

When the day came around that we were heading back to school, the four of us managed to get on the train and sat in one of the cabins and the entire time, I was thinking about everything that I overheard between dad, Bellatrix and Narcissa as I looked out of the window before I heard Hermione speak up, “Genesis, are you alright?” she asked me as she got my attention, “yeah, I’m alright.” I told her before seeing that Harry was gone, “where’s Harry?” I asked them, “he said he needed to get some air.” Ron said to me and I nodded before I continued looking out of the window as everything that I found out, continued playing through my head not realizing how much time had gone by when Hermione had gotten my attention, “Genesis, we’re here.” she said to me and I got up and the three of us walked out of the Cabin before she spoke up again, “where’s Harry she asked us, “he’s probably already on the platform” Ron said, “I hope so.” I said to them before we got off the train and made our way to the Castle and once we got there, we went to the Common Room and got changed before heading to the Great Hall and once we did, everyone sat down with their houses before Dumbledore began the feast and all I did most of the time was look around wondering where Harry was and I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard Hermione speak up and saw her hitting Ron with her book, “will you stop eating. Your best friend is missing.” she said to Ron, “turn around you lunatic.” Ron said to her and the both of us looked to see Harry walk in with Luna, “he’s covered in blood again, why is it he’s always covered in blood.” Ginny said to us, “I was wondering the same thing.” I said to her, “looks like it’s his own this time” Ron told us before he sat down next to me, “what happened to you?” I asked him as I helped clean his nose a little, “where have you been? What happened to your face?” Hermione asked him, “later. What have I missed?” he said to us, “the Sorting Hat asked us all to be brave and strong in these troubled times. Easy for it to say, it’s a hat isn’t it?” Ron said to us and I sighed a little as I continued to clean up Harry’s nose before hearing Dumbledore speak up, “very best of evenings to you all. First off, let me introduce the newest member of our staff, Horace Slughorn.” he said as he introduced the man before continuing, “Professor Slughorn, I’m happy to say, has agreed to resume his old post as Potions Master. Meanwhile, the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts will be taken by Professor Snape. Now as you know, each and every one of you was searched upon your arrival here tonight and you have the right to know why, once there was a young man who, like you, sat in this very Hall, walked this Castle’s Corridor’s, and stepped under its roof. It seems to all the world a student like any other his name, Tom Riddle.  Today of course, he’s known all over the world by another name which is why as I stand looking out upon you all tonight, I’m reminded of a sobering fact, everyday, every hour, this very minute perhaps, Dark Forces attempt to penetrate this Castle’s very walls but in the end, their greatest weapon is you. Just something to think about, now off to bed, pip pip.” he said to everyone and soon enough, everyone left the Great Hall and once we made it back to the Common Room for the night, I went to get changed before sitting with the others for a while and I zoned out thinking about everything as I could never get it out of my head after finding out what was going on before hearing Harry calling my name, “Genesis, what’s wrong? You seem to be out of it since being at Fred and George’s shop.” he said to me and I sighed a little, “to be honest, I don’t know. There’s just so much going on right now that it’s clouding my mind to the point it’s all I’ve been thinking about.” I told him, “do you want to talk about it?” he asked me and I thought about it and I nodded, “can we talk about it alone please?” I asked him, “yeah sure.” he said and we ended up in his Dorm, “what’s really going on?” He asked me, “Dad and I had an argument the other day and it was about something involving himself and Draco. You see the thing is, his mother and Bellatrix came over and they ended up talking in privat to my dad about something and I managed to overhear what they were talking about but I only got so much before I left and went to my room but the thing was, whatever Draco had to do, it sounded like he didn’t have a choice in doing so.” I told him, “I knew they were up to something in Borgin and Burkes, did they mention that Cabinet that they were looking at?” he said and I shook my head, “no, they didn't, they only mentioned that he had a task to do. But please keep this to yourself for now. I don’t want to cause more trouble than there already is” I told him and he nodded before heading back down into the Common Room for a while and eventually went to bed later that night.
