Colours

5 1 1

Apples, rose petals, cloths waved for bulls

Carpet walked on by celebrities.

The flowers worn by people remembering

Those fallen, the blood from their wounds

Tangerines, carrots, marigolds

Her long, frizzy hair.

Not red nor yellow,

The fruits crush beneath my teeth

Lemons, stars, daffodils

The moon and sun.

I suck on the butterscotch,

Relishing the honeyish taste

Grass in summer, four-leafed luck

Leaves on the trees,

Not yet fallen.

The signal to go, go, go!

Oceans, eyes, swimming pools

It laps at my feet as I stand on the sand,

Salt stinging my face from the wind

Sent by the sky above.

Lilacs, orchinds, so many hues

The sky at sunrise and sunset,

Layered with colours,

Has the shade of plums.

Candy hearts, gum, my favourite ball dress

Make-up on her face.

The sweet icing on cakes and cookies,

So light and sugary.

Nightmares, goth, licorice

At twelve o'clock midnight,

Dots of bright pierce

Dizzying dark

Vanilla, cotton, wool off sheep

Wisps of cloud dancing among the sky.

The whipped cream on top of

A stack of flapjacks.

The colours of the Earth

Sky, ocean, and ground

Are so numerous and beautiful

Only a fool would claim to match it.
