You locked eyes with Haewon as you looked up to her and told her about you picking her as your partner. Haewon simply looked back to you and remained silent for a moment before mumbling.

"Ah, okay. Then, what's the big deal about it? Were you disappointed that it turned out to be me?" She raised a brow at you again.

Your eyes widened.

"No, not at all!" You frantically uttered and used your hands to show denial. "It isn't like that. I'm not disappointed. I..."

You paused and pressed your lips together.

"I was just surprised."

Haewon just nodded in response and glanced at the piece of paper between your fingers before averting her gaze back to your eyes and instructing you.

"Keep that with you."

With that, Haewon took the fishbowl from you and turned around as she returned to the teacher's desk to take another. She pretty much did the same thing for the remaining students until everyone had a partner.

There were a few students complaining and whining about the person whom they got partnered with — such as right now, they were Gaeul and Wonyoung.

They were the two people who weren't picked through the fishbowl draw, so they were automatically paired up with each other. As far as you know, they were rivals. It began with their academic standing. They often fight for the second rank. Haewon is pretty much a constant for the first place. It is near impossible to beat her.

Over the years, Gaeul and Wonyoung were practically interchanging for the second and third places. Beyond that, they come across each other and compete against each other a lot.

So, they have this mutual dislike towards each other.

If you remember it right, both of them ran for vice presidency for the student council. It was Gaeul who won the election. This fueled Wonyoung's dislike towards Gaeul more.

"This couldn't be happening! I couldn't be stuck with you! It'll drive me crazy." Wonyoung whined.

Gaeul rolled her eyes.

"Don't worry, I couldn't stand the thought of being with you either." She scoffed. Then, she turned to face Haewon and looked at the latter with puppy eyes, trying to appeal to the president.

"Come on, Haewon. I am a friend of yours, am I? Please, have mercy on me. I would probably die young due to the stress that she would cause to me. Let's just switch partners. You are not close with Jang, and I am not close with Y/N."

"Yes, you're my friend." Haewon initially spoke which made Gaeul's face lit up. However, it didn't take long for her elated expression to fall off.

"However, I must be fair. I am certain that not everyone is not exactly pleased with whoever they ended up with. Besides, you are a part of the student council which promotes a sense of community among the students. You are part of an organization which promotes human relations. You should set an example, Gaeul." Haewon firmly said, looking straight into Gaeul's eyes. Shortly after, she moved her gaze to Wonyoung.

"As for you, Miss Jang. Didn't you run for the same position as Gaeul? If you have an intention to take part in such an organization, you must also live out the values that it is trying to instill."
