You have been friends with Haewon ever since the two of you were six years old. You were neighbors who eventually became playmates then best of friends. 

The two of you practically grew up together, and you found yourself falling in love with her as time went by.

You started developing feelings with Haewon back when the two of you were in middle school. She was the campus crush. After all, she has beauty and the brains. Not to mention, her singing and dancing skills are top-tier as well.

Despite the attention that Haewon was receiving from everybody else, she hasn't changed. It is still you whom she prefers spending time with. She was still caring towards you. Then, she was always there to assist you in the subjects where you were struggling. A lot of the students actually envied you for your closeness with her.

Even after she got into JYP Entertainment, made it into the final line-up of the new girl group under the said company, and debuted as a member of NMIXX, she always made sure that she had time for you and for catching up with you. During her vacation, she would take you out on friendly dates. 

On your 18th birthday, no matter how busy the day has been for her; she made sure to make it to your party. She even sang 'Count on Me' by Bruno Mars for you.

You are a foreigner, and she knows how special that day was for you. It marks your initial passage to adulthood following the standards in the country where you were originally from.

You couldn't be thankful enough for having Haewon as a best friend. However, something within you wanted to take it to the next level, especially that Haewon was exhibiting most of the signs that may indicate that she could be into you as well. You have read a lot of articles online about those signs.

In group settings, Haewon would seek for you and gravitate towards you. You would catch her staring at you at some points while you were talking with your mutual friends. She seemed to be dispirited whenever the topic of your classmate who confessed to you was being brought out. 

When the two of you are by yourselves, she would initiate skinship and throw some romantic or sexual innuendos. There was even a time that she cannot even help herself to do so amidst the presence of her bandmates.

That time was actually right now. You are with the girls, and you were gathered together in the living room of your apartment. They easily became your friends after Haewon introduced you to them. 

So, going back, they have just finished with their promotions. They were dismissed pretty early, and it would be their day off tomorrow. They decided to spend the night by having a movie night with you. 

You were into the third movie for the night, and it was a horror movie that you were all watching. Haewon was holding you into her arms, while you were snuggling into her. She would let out a giggle as you squeal and nuzzle up against her shoulder whenever you were caught off guard by the jump scares. 

All the while, the girls were exchanging glances while the two of you seemed to be lost in your own world. 

"I know that we are watching a horror movie, but why do I feel like ants are starting to crawl over? Can you girls feel them as well?" Bae remarked, acting as if she was trying to get the 'ants' off her legs. She was sitting next to you.

"I know right! It seems like the source of sweetness is coming from elsewhere." Jinni followed up, going along with Bae's act. She was trying to shrug the 'ants' off her.

"I can feel them too!" Kyujin uttered. "They have been accumulating since we've started, but the sweetness seemed to go too far by now. It completely summoned the ants out of their colony!" 

"Indeed, the sweetness also makes me feel so single!" Jiwoo exclaimed. 

With that, they laughed together, while you can feel your cheeks heating up with the thought of them potentially seeing you and Haewon more than friends. 

Lily turned towards the two of you.

"Honestly, lovebirds, you can tell us the truth." She paused, looking at you and Haewon knowingly. 

"Then, you can let us know if you would prefer spending the rest of the night together. From what we are seeing, we are not really wanted here."

You can feel your heart hammering against your chest with the term that Lily used to refer to the two of you. You subtly looked at Haewon on how she was taking all these. 

Haewon does not seem fazed at all. With an amused grin on her lips, she shook her head.

"I don't know what truth you would want to hear, but sorry to burst your bubble — Y/N and I are just friends. Whatever it is that you girls are thinking about, it is not possible. Do not get me wrong, Y/N is an amazing person. That can be proven with her classmates either catching feelings for her or finding her attractive. It is easy to fall in love with her. She is not just a pretty face, but she also has a beautiful personality." Haewon blurted out, glancing at you and stroking your shoulder. 

"It is just that I do not see myself being attracted with the member of the same sex, and most especially; my best friend." 

The words that came out from Haewon's lips stung, causing you to look down and go rigid. Deep inside, you can feel your heart shattering into pieces. 

She is not completely responsible for it, because it is you who thought wrong about her.

The pain was overwhelming, to say the least. You knew that you already fell deeply in love with her. It would be tough to get all the way back up.

However, you are somewhat grateful that you knew this prior to confessing about your love for her. At least, you were able to save yourself from the shame. 

You did your best in holding your tears from pouring out as you cleared your throat, then lifted your chin back up and faked a smile.

"Neither do I. I cannot imagine myself being attracted to this dork next to me." You chuckled, moving away from Haewon.

"I... I will just use the restroom. I will be right back."
