"Rebecca," Sheva whispered to the studious athlete in a concerned tone. "Are you all right?"

She placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. Rebecca was seemingly asleep at her cluttered desk. Empty, disposable coffee tumblers were scattered amongst the unorganized papers. Papers also surrounded the floor around her. In red marks were repeating "C"s and "D"s on papers labeled "Assessment". Even the occasional "F" was circled in red marker on scattered assignments. Sheva and Jill watched their friend grow increasingly more swamped, stressed, and sleepy the past two weeks. Jill would rarely see her on their off days since Rebecca was always at basketball practice those days. Contrastingly, Sheva would almost always find her awake at the latest of hours, studying and reviewing nonstop. Neither of them had actually seen her asleep in a while.

Sheva gave a small sigh. The last thing she wanted to do right now was wake Rebecca. As carefully as she could, Sheva put one of Rebecca's arms around her shoulder. She proceeded to place her own arms under Rebecca's legs and around her waist. Slowly, cautiously, Sheva lifted her petite friend off of her chair and gently set her down on her bed. Draping a blanket on top of her, Sheva realized that this was probably the longest Rebecca had slept in a while.

"We've got to do something to help her," Sheva said to Jill over breakfast the next morning. It was a chilly but sunny Saturday in late September. The two girls were enjoying some sandwiches Sheva made the day prior. "She barely talks to us anymore and it's more than obvious she isn't getting any sleep."

"I know, I know," Jill replied, glancing solemnly towards Rebecca's uncharacteristically unkempt bed. "I just don't know how we can help! I mean, virology is completely different than what we're majoring in. I wouldn't even know where to start when it comes to that sort of thing."

"Hmm," Sheva pondered for a moment. "I think we should get that basketball coach fired." Jill laughed hysterically but Sheva remained serious. "Jill, you know that it's that coach that's distracting her from her already strenuous studies! Not to mention that practice is always on the days she doesn't have class. Rebecca has, like, no time to herself now!"

"I know, I know, and I don't necessarily disagree, Shev, but there's gotta be a more direct way we can get her some help."

The two girls ate their sandwiches in a thoughtful silence. Their minds were racing with ways they could best help their friend. They continued to remain in this state until Jill ate the last bite of her sandwich.

"I just remembered!" She exclaimed. As she spoke, she began changing out of her pajamas and into more weather-appropriate attire. "My boyfriend's roommate is a sophomore virology major and he even knows Rebecca! Asking him to help her out won't be such a bad idea!"

"Really?!" Sheva gasped, starting to get dressed herself. "That's perfect! Uhm... do we even know where he would be?"

"Well, my boyfriend might have some idea so I figure we can start by seeing him!"

The two friends left the comfort of their dorm and faced the cold autumn day outside. Jill came prepared with a long, navy blue coat and thick thermal leggings. Sheva wore a thick purple sweater with a white button down underneath. She paired her top with grey ripped jeans with black tights underneath. The wind bit and fought against them but they were determined to find this complete stranger to help their friend – no matter what the weather had in store for them.

It took about ten minutes to finally reach the sophomore dorms. According to past texts to Jill from Chris, he seemed to be the only freshman there. Most other freshmen got paired with juniors and seniors for bunkmates (if necessary). According to Chris, he "... somehow got stuck with the Freakenstein wannabe. He's a total nerd and weirdo but at least he showers lol".
