Harry
I was sitting slumped down on the couch, with my feet propped on the coffee table, staring at nothing. I had been thinking about how lonely I was. Ever since Zayn got married and walked around so happy, it made me see how much I was missing.
Someone to come home to, someone to hold close at night. A person to love me, for me, to hold me when I was sad, and kiss me when I needed love. The other half of me, my soul mate.
It was getting harder and harder to act happy when I wasn't. The need to love, and be loved, was growing stronger. Where is she? Where is the woman of my dreams?
I sighed.
"That was a big sigh. What are you thinking about, mate?"
I glanced over the back of the couch at Louis who was walking in. As he sat down on the seat next to me, I returned my focus to the ceiling and replied, "Oh, you know, fame, fortune, girls."
"Ah, Harry. Those are some heavy thoughts. Don't worry. When the time comes to meet her, you will. Until then, don't give up."
"How will I know if she's 'the one', Lou?"
He tapped my knee bringing my eyes to him. "You will know because you will feel it here." Louis laid his hand on my heart. He then pointed at my head and continued, saying, "Not there. Sometimes the head will tell us to jump, but when your heart is telling you to jump, then you know it's right. Trust your heart, Harry."
"How do you know all this stuff, Lou?"
"Oh, well, you know, I'm just smart like that," Louis answered with a smirk, "and that's how Zayn said he knew he had found his one and only. He told me both his head, and his heart said jump."
"That's right, that is how it happened, and I couldn't be happier," Zayn said as he walked in. "Just wait, your day will come, Harry, and when it does, you'll be just as happy as I am."
"I hope so, Zayn, and I hope it comes soon," I said, getting up to go find something to eat.
Going to the kitchen, I looked around and found nothing of interest. I decided a burger sounded really good. So, grabbing my keys and phone, I slipped my shoes on and headed for the door. Getting into my car, I headed for McDonald's. Pulling into a parking space, I put on a beanie hat to hide most of my curls and got out.
Not really watching where I was going, I bumped into someone. Quickly I grabbed them to keep them from falling. Highly embarrassed, I muttered, " I am so sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going. Are you okay?"
"Y-yes. I'm okay. I wasn't watching where I was going either, so it could have been my fault we collided," a soft, sweet female voice answered.
I took a good look at her and felt my heart skip a beat. She was maybe five foot five, with shoulder-length straight hair, that was as black as a raven's wing. She had an olive complexion and blue eyes that sparkled in the sun, framed by long lashes. Her lips were soft looking and plump. Looking back at her eyes, I got lost in how blue they were.
"Um... Hello? Anybody in there? I didn't bump into you that hard, did I?" she asked, waving her hand in front of my face.
"I, yeah, sorry. I just—you are just so very beautiful," I managed to say, then could have slapped myself for blurting that out.
"T-Thank you, " she stuttered, blushing.
"Oh, how rude of me," I said, feeling my cheeks heating. "My name is Harry. What's yours?"
"Annalise."
I smiled. "Well, Annalise, I was going in to get a burger. Would you like to join me?"
"Sure, that's where I was headed also."
