BENGALURU

"Wait wait wait. You mean he was here for Meghna? I don't understand." Deepa exhaled frustrated.

"To put it simply. Rocky was here to kill Garuda. Meghna was here to supervise Rocky and if he stepped a line, kill him. Now Deekshit was here, to kill Meghna."

"But why? It's not making any sense." Deepa was irritated and it was clear in her tone and the deep lines on her face which accentuated her frown.

"It's quite simple actually. All of Garuda's competitors wanted him dead. So Andrews hired Rocky to kill Garuda. The main people in Africa were not happy with Andrews' decision because they knew what kind of person Rocky was and so, they hired Meghna to go there and work as another assassin just so she could look over what Rocky was doing and once Rocky's job was over, she could kill him. But, Andrews knew something like this would happen. He had a small hunch that Meghna was sent there to not just supervise Rocky but to kill him. And so, he set up Deekshit to tail Meghna and finish her off before she did something to Rocky."

There was a quite moment as the information sunk in.

And then, Deepa nodded for Divya to continue.

1978
BANGALORE

It was the sharp jab of an elbow in her rib that brought her back down to the land of the living.

Her thoughts had clouded her as she contemplated all of the reasons as to why someone could be after her. This was getting confusing and she could feel a headache dawning on her.

As she slowly looked around the street which was crowded as usual, she realized that she'd somehow walked into the narrow street which lead to the Party Office.

Just as she was looking for the nearest way to exist the street, someone harshly slammed into her shoulder from behind and without apologizing, the man kept walking, immersed in a deep conversation with his companion.

She cursed loudly and walked after him. There was no way she was going to let a man dash her and walk away like that. She chased after him, slithering through the thick crowds.

You should go home. You've had too much too drink and tomorrow's a big day. The rational part of her brain said.

See? This is why girls are being used like a doormat. Because of people with a mentality like yours! I deserve my respect and I need an apology right now! Another part of her brain said and she agreed with it.

And so, she continued behind him as he walked into an alley. Their hushed whispers had become louder. She hid herself behind a stack of boxes.

"- are all the waiters in the godown?"

"Everyone, except for one person."

"WHAT?!" and then the voice lowered, "you fool! How can you miss one person like that?!"

"He isn't in town, we went over to his house and enquired."

He gave an unsatisfied grunt but accepted it anyway.

"And you've informed all of our men to be prepared for tomorrow right?"

"All that is prepared."

"We can't have any mistakes or Boss will have our head. Have you given them the uniforms?"

"It was done yesterday sir."

"Hm. Good. Make sure they're all armed before they get into the Office and tell them not to unwantedly flash their guns. They need to behave like propers waiters and no one should doubt them."

Wait. What was happening?

She had to tell Rocky immediately. And she left the place, hidden in the shadows.

Rocky hadn't returned yet. It was past twelve and he wasn't here yet.

She walked across the empty room, her mind overlapping with ideas and thoughts.

She needed to come up with some sort of plan.

Her foot tapped against the wooden floor and she gnawed at her thumbnail.

There was only one way.

Meghna pulled at the tight collar gently so she could get some breathing space. This dress was uncomfortable. Espescially for the heat.

This was Meghna's plan. To dress up as a waiter. Yes a waiter, not a waitress. Get access to the gun and then go in. Find Rocky. Tell him what she heard. See what he thinks. And the come up with something.

And so she waited.

She stood near a pillar on a hig step, scanning the crowd for Rocky. And then she saw him. He had just entered. She had to catch up to him before he did something.

And with that, she took off into the crowds looking for him.

Suddenly she heard a click to her right. Someone was loading a gun.

It must be the one which was Rocky was supposed to use.

And according to the plan, the person loading the gun would be on the move and so she continued to her right, almost running into everyone.

She could see Rocky's face and now that she had seen him, she walked a little bit more faster.

Someone with a plaid blazer past him and there was a change in his face.

She could tell that he had the gun.

She went forward, right at him while pretending to look elsewhere so she isn't perceived as suspicious.

She caught hold of his wrist, she hadn't looked at his face yet, but she had a firm grip on his wrist. A subtle warning that something was off.

But he harshly pulled his hand off.

She felt a sudden flare of anger and just as she turned towards him, her breath caught in her throat.

She was certain her heart had dropped to the pit of her stomach.

Because this wasn't Rocky at all.

A huge man stared at her with disgust in his features.

Right. According to them she was a man.

Well, this was awkward.

But she didn't have tome to dwell on it because suddenly there was some sort of commotion.

She could hear the sound of glasses crashing and people were being pushed back.

Garuda was here.

And he wasn't alone.

He had brought his own security, all of whom had guns poitning at the people.
