The Girl Who Lived.

Prologue

            I am Lilly McGrady. I live in district 12, coal, and I live in a part nicknamed "The Seam". My parents are coal miners and I am only 12 and today is the reaping. "What is the reaping?" I hear you say? Well the reaping is where kids 12-18 all gather for a chance to DIE in the hunger games. By die I mean, a chance to participate but district 12 hasn't had a victor since the 50th games, where Haymitch Abernathy won. I hope to win and not die or have to work in the mines. I get dressed in a nice-ish dress that is light blue, and I am off to the reaping. "Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favor." Effie Trinket says in her silly Capital accent. "This is the 68th annual Hunger Games, and I hope it will be a special one." She says and was about to say more but Haymitch, the district 12 mentor, interrupts her. "SpEcIaL? HA! NoT iN a MiLlIoN yEaRs!" he slurs. "ANYWAY!" Effie snaps. "Let's start with the girl tribute." She reaches into the glass bowl with the girl's name and pulls it out. "Lilly McGrady!" She announces. I am shocked. I slowly make my way to the stage. "Well? Come on up." Effie says. I get up and no one volunteers for my place. "How old are you Lilly?" The pink-haired woman asks. "12." I say nonchalantly. "Now let's see who our boy tribute will be." She announces. "Harry Potter!" She says and Harry comes up. "Now how old are you?" She asks. "17." Harry says as if it deserved a cookie. A/N: I know Harry Potter is not in the Hunger games, but I can't think of a name. "Well, congratulations you two, and may the odds be ever in your favor!" Effie says. We shake hands and go into the justice building. My parents walk in and my mom is in tears. "Oh my baby girl!" She cries hugging me. "Oh, Lilly, I can't believe it. You're going into the Games." My dad says. "Mom, Dad, I have a plan. Trust me." I reassure them. "Just sit tight." I joke. My mom removes her necklace and gives it to me. It's a small butterfly. My parents are called out of the room and I am alone. I start to say my thoughts aloud and one hits hard "I am about to go into the Hunger Games and I plan to win at all costs."
