"Okay. They are beautiful men." chimney says staring at Alex and Eddie Who were currently getting changed both drenched in sweat "Where's the lie? And I like girls." Hen replied, staring back at the two.
"Who the hell are they?" Buck questioned in annoyance.
"It's Eddie Diaz and Alexander Gallagher. New recruit. Alex Graduated top of his class with a scholarship."
The three firefighters stared in awe at him "What do we need them for?" the three others laughed at buck.
"Um... Eddie served multiple tours in Afghanistan as an Army medic. Guy's got a Silver Star. It's not like he's wet behind the ears. Alex has an IQ of around 150 and just managed to grab him. He's worked since he could walk only ever had people say good things about him." Bobby told the younger boy.
"Come on, I'll introduce you to them. They like to be called Eight Pack." The captain jokes. "Wow. Silver Star." "Better drop some more body fat there, butch." chimney says slapping buck's stomach.
"Hi." "Hey." "Eddie, Alex this is Hen. Hen, Eddie and alex."
"Nice to meet you." Eddie greeted holding his hand out to both hen and alex who took it. "Hey Hen it's nice to meet you." Alec greeted as well. Hen spotted the rainbow badge clipped to his t-shirt "Ah are you a part of the Lgbtq?" she asked politely.
"Yeah, im gay." hen smiled, "Lesbian." The two laughed knowing they would already be friends.
"So, Silver Star, huh?" Chimney, a short Asian man asked Eddie who was also new.
"Mm Yeah." Gallagher could tell he didn't want to talk about it, and he could blame him. "You save a platoon or something?" the man carried on asking questions.
"No, no, nothing like that. Uh, just a convoy." The siren was wailing, horns blaring
"Alex Eddie, uh, you heard about the hot firefighter calendar?" Hen leaned over to ask while smirking. "Sorry, the what?" Alec asked his new friend, confused.
"It's for charity." She explains about the calendar making him snort "You sure you're not just trying to see these babies Wilson." The fruity two begin laughing.
"So is your full name "Eduardo"?" Buck, who had seemed a bit annoyed with the two newcomers, asked. "No."
"People ever call you 'Diaz' ?" "Not if they want me to respond." The man shrugged, not letting him bother his mood.
"Something's got to give. We got... we got Cap, Hen, Chimney, Buck. We can't just call you 'Eddie.' same with Alex." the Gallagher shrugged, not really caring. "Hen can call me whatever she likes." the two had been flirting with each other, finding it hilarious.
"Can't tell if he's being serious or not." Eddie asked no one in particular. "I like to always operate under the assumption that nothing he says is serious." chimney told him making everyone in the truck but buck laugh.
"The air nozzle is embedded in his ass cheek. I shut it off, but I was afraid to move him." The man explained to them as he led them through.
"Okay, Hector, can you hear me? All right, hang in there, buddy. All right let's get him on his side. Maintain pressure on the wound." Captain Nash instructured. "On three. One, two, three." the man began to scream in pain.
"Easy, easy. It's a hundred pounds per square inch of air pumped through his entire body." Buck told them looking above them all. "Breathing's shallow, heart's racing. Air's filled his stomach, his chest, even behind his eyelids. I'm more concerned about the space around his heart and lungs." Hen explained inspecting the man.
"Okay, Eddie, start a nasal cannula. Chimney, get him some morphine." Bobby ordered.
"I'm on it. It's like trying to inject a needle into stone." Chimney told the team while he tried injecting the man. "The pressure's pushing everything out. I can't even get air through the nostril."
"Jugular venous distention, tachycardia, hypotension, diminished breath, we're looking at tension pneumothorax." Hen listed. "The air pressure is collapsing his organs. We need to get in there and drain the fluid." Alec told his captain who nodded in agreement.
"Buck, I need you to get a 14-gauge angiocath. We need to start decompressing the pleural cavity."
"All right, all right." Buck mumbled as he did. "Want me to help?" Alec offered only to receive a "I got it.""Hang in there, Hector." Bobby told the man. "I'd go lower." Alec told the blonde stopping him from what he was doing. "What? Um, no. Second intercostal space. Midclavicular line."
"The chest wall is thinner at the fifth intercostal at the anterior axillary line. There's a decreased chance of injuring any vital organs. I've done this before I was a paramedic." Alec explained as well as doing his fire and rescue training he had done his paramedic training where he had managed to get a small job back in Chicago.
"Do it. Please." Bobby asks the Gallagher man. "Thank you. Can you help me out with the shirt?" he asks buck who starts cutting it. As he places the needle in the man you can hear the air escaping him making Alec grin. "That's it, Hector. Breathe, nice and slow."
Alec is now standing by the truck putting everything away "That was a good call, Alec." Bobby says walking past patting his back. "Thanks, Cap." "Nice job." Chimney tells him."Yeah. Good call." buck says but it just doesn't sit right with him had he done something was it frank once again.
Alec lay in bed in a pair of joggers and a grey t-shirt his phone to his ear his family on the other side the kids were asking all types of questions about the man.
"So, if you hadn't saved him, he would've exploded?" Debbie asked causing him to chuckle but before he could answer carl had said something "I wish you hadn't saved him, and you could have told me what an exploded man is like." Alec mock gasped "So none of you are happy your big brother save a life today i was like a super hero." they all talked for about an hour more "I love you monkeys goodnight be good." alec placed his phone on charge on his night stand by his wallet in which was a picture of nine people Him his sibling plus kev and vee it was last summer there all stood in the Gallagher's back garden all smiling kev had him in a chokehold carl was on ians back vee and fiona stood side by side vee holding Debbie's hand fiona holding Liam lip stood beside kev. he carried it on him at all times yes, his phone was full of pictures of them but he needs one to carry around on him.
