Extra - Movie night

ALI

Jay and I, Evie and Doug, Mal and Ben and Carlos and Lonnie spread out on the sofa in Ben's room, cuddling with our significant others we we stare at a blank screen.

Rahim snores on the floor in front of me, while Dude sits loyally by Carlos' side.

"This is boring." I say, head on Jay's shoulder. He draws a pattern on my arm with his fingers.

"That's the third time you've said that in the past five minutes, Ali."

"Doesn't change the fact that it's true, Lon."

She sticks her tongue out at me.

Jay chuckles and presses a kiss to my head. "Ali does have a point, though. Why haven't we picked a movie?"

"Because the power's out."

"The lights are literally on? Mal, what drugs are you on?"

She flicks a finger and the lights flicker off.

"OhmygodIhateyou."

"Please, Ali, you love me."

"Sad because it's true." I huff.

Doug looks up from his laptop, frowning, "Um, could you guys keep it down, please? Evie's sleeping."

I throw a pillow at her and she opens her eyes from where she rests her head on Doug's shoulder.

"No she's not." I grin.

Evie flushes red as Carlos cackles, Ben huffing softly.

"Look, guys, why don't we just play a board game or something?"

"Ew!"

"Boooooooo!"

"God, Ben, you're such an old man. What happened?"

Mal shuffles away from him to give him a look. "Did you seriously just suggest a board game?"

He shrugs.

"Have you forgotten how violent Ali gets? The last time we played Monopoly, he threw his credit card at Carlos and it had enough force behind it to cut him!"

"I stand by my actions. Carlos was being an ass and trying to take my money."

"You landed on my property! I was playing by the rules!"

"Rules schmules." I groan, laying back against Jay.

"Any suggestions, Jay?"

"We could play video games?"

"I love you and hate you at the same time how bASIC can you be?"

"Oh, I'm hurt. I am wounded."

"Boy, I will throw my tiger at you."

"With what muscles?"

"Crying. CrYING! Lonnieeeeee! Jay called me weak!"

"Bitch you are????"

"I'm literally the captain of the sword & shield team what is this shi?"

Mal groans and claps her hands. The lights turn back on and so does the television.

Happily, the eight of us settle in to watch the episode of Once Upon a Time that just so happens to be on the first channel Mal flicks to.

"I kinda want apple juice right now I'm not gonna lie."

They groan and throw pillows at me.

Even Jay does.

It's sad.

We sit in silence for a moment longer before Ben points something out, "This is movie night, right?"

We hum in acknowledgement and agreement.

"Then why are we watching a show?"

"You know what, Ben?" I stand from my seat on Jay's lap, throw my pillow at him, step into my duckie slippers and walk out the front door.

I still want apple juice.
