So it's a long one. Sorry for taking long on the updates for this and my my other story. I'm working more hrs so finding time to write is a bit of a struggle but I'm trying so bare with me.

Enjoy...

I guess it's true. You never really know what you're missing until it's not there anymore.

It was just like any other day at the station. The team did their line up, got their chores for the day and were in the process of completing them when the alarm went off.

It was a 3 alarm fire in the downtown area. The team knew the area but not for a good reason. The worst reason actually especially for a firefighter.

The fire broke out in a red zone.

Red zones are either condemned buildings that the city are either one, too lazy or two, say that it's too expensive to knock down. So they just let them sit and rot. Or they are buildings that are tricky to get through and are like mazes which is easy to get lost in. That and they fall and burn easily.

Nerves could be felt all around as the team collectively rushing to get their gear on and in the trucks. The journey was silent knowing that each and every line of them needs to be on their A game and keep their eyes and ears peeled for everything and anything that could end them in the hospital or worse...

"19 OUT!" Beckett condescendingly shouted at the team. As usual most of 19 rolled their eyes. Like come on did he really think they stay put in the trucks.

As Beckett took in the scene and looked for a way around the fire Andy and Maya started thinking out loud and bouncing off ideas to each other. "This building is abandoned and falling away at the seems."

"Agreed, the best and safest way to do this is to let it burn. Control it so it doesn't jump to the other building the blast it with water once it's taking most of the structure away"

"Yes, although the structure to the left on the north side looks worse than this one we could let it jump to that one and burn that down. We both know the city won't do anything with it. Any guesses on what cause it?" The Latina asked.

"Mmm very true. This looks like an electric look the top right hand side the windows are smashed and you can clearly see the exposed wiring. Not to mention the heat we've had the last week, I'm surprised it only now that it's caught fire"

"I didn't see that at first but good eye. You do always catch things others don't. Plus I'd trust you with the type of fire you study those in your sleep." As both women chuckled they were interrupted by their captain.

"Alright 19, I've just got off the phone with dispatch for any extra information. They said that Chief Lockwood was out doing an inspection 2 weeks ago and in his report there is a breaker in the back of the building in the south east side in the last office. I'm going to need one of you to go in and turn it off" with that the team erupted.

"Captain that's suicide"

"No way sir am I getting in there. I'll never get back out."

"It's not safe enough for anyone to go near you want someone to go in"

"Please don't send anyone in there"

"Sir I think we should just blast it with water"

"Cap let it burn. There's no point in saving it."
