This is a long one so buckle in.
Trying to make up for the fact I haven't been updating in a while.
Enjoy and if you have requests or ideas let me know.It was a quiet shift for 19 but a busy one for Lieutenant Maya DeLuca Bishop. Captain Beckett was giving her paper work to file away, only he was giving her one page at a time and each page was not in order or even from the same report. So sitting at reception Maya had to differentiate which piece of paper had to go where.
It was a nightmare. She was also on cleaning duty with Warren but thankfully Ben understood and let her concentrate on the paper work while he cleaned for the both of them.
It was just after lunch, Maya was making her way to the gym but the Klaxon went off.
It was a house fire. She'd had gone on numerous amount of calls for house fires but little did she know that this house was different. This house would change the way not only she would see her team, see her family but also the world would see the way she would be treated by the Captain of station 19.
The team arrived at the house a little bit slower that they would have liked as Beckett had walked towards the truck instead of running but they rolled their eyes and shrugged it off ignoring it so they could get into the right headspace for the fire.
"Alright 19 we have a two story house. I want Hughes, Ruiz and Gibson to do a sweep and get out this house isn't going to last long. I want Montgomery and Warren to check out the people in the house, records show a married couple live here. Herrera, Bishop and Sullivan get the hoses out and be ready with the water." Beckett called as they all stepped out of the truck.
The couple who's house it was were being brought out unconscious by Hughes and Gibson. "It's clear." The Ruiz said as he followed them out "it was just the two of them Captain" Gibson spoke out after handing the couple to Montgomery and Warren.
"Good job. Herrera, Bishop, Sullivan. Start with the water!" Beckett shouted out.
As usual with this type of call out being in a neighbourhood there were people coming out of their house and watching. Kids were on their bikes watching the firefighters work as it was a Saturday and they weren't in school.
Something felt off to Maya though. She couldn't tell what but she continued on with her job. She did however start looking around, looking around at the neighbours, looking around the neighbouring houses her last look around was at the house that was about to collapse.
That's when she spotted something in the upstairs window. She closed her eyes and shook her head to make sure what she was certain about what she thought she saw.
She was sure.
There was a kid still in the house.
"STOP!" She shouted stopping the water and throwing her hose down on the ground. "THERES A KID IN THERE!"
"BISHOP What the hell do you think you are doing pick the hose up right now. Do your job and get water on the house that's an ORDER!" Beckett shouted back at her.
"Maya what the hell? No there's not we cleared the house. You are probably seeing a showed of the curtains or something but we swept the house." Gibson all but got in her face said.
"No I'm sure there's a kid in the house stop Andy Sullivan stop please." She pleaded with them to stop the water but they didn't see what she saw and Maya was starting to act like a crazy lunatic shouting at them. She was also starting to grow more of an audience and people were pulling their phones out to start recording her.
"Maya your crazy!" Sullivan shouted as he kept the water on the house. The house was about to collapse any rank of firefighter could tell you that.
Gibson shook his head at Maya and picked up the hose she dropped and started it up again.
