It's a long one. Reread Part 1 to remind yourself of whats going on. Sorry for the delay, I'm getting back into writing again. Just been so busy.
Carina came back and started packing up her office much like Maya did with her locker, throwing things in the boxes she had already in her office.Maya was just watching her wife move around her office with a smile on her face. She hasn't felt like this in such a long time. Happy and...light and... possibly the feeling of being free.
Standing up from the couch and moving behind her wife, she gently wraps her arms round her waist and gives her a few kisses on the back of her neck. "There's no rush baby. We haven't even looked a flights and we still need to pack and sort the apartment"
Turning round in the blondes arms, Carina smiles and pulls Maya in closer so she's standing in between her wife's legs while she leans on her desk "About that I may have already looked at plane tickets there is a flight tonight I didn't book it because well you'd still be on shift when we'd need to leave. Buuut..." moving away she opened her laptop and the window of the plane tickets to Italy was still open. Surprisingly they weren't that expensive. "We could leave tonight have a week or two just for us I could show you around and then have some time to look at donors again. Italian ones" saying the last part Carina moved her eyebrows up and down. "Then I'd start shadowing the doctor and refamiliarise myself with the hospital."
"Okay say we leave tonight what about the apartment and our cars, we would still need to make sure our place is secure and left properly" Maya said with her eyvrows thinking frown trying to make a mental list in her head of everything that needs to be done.
"Oh all that is easy, we book these tickets now. Go home pack a couple of bags, sort the food we have into piles then we give a key to someone we trust to move the food to either homeless shelters or they can divide it amongst themselves and with our cars we put them in storage. Simple" Carina answers with a shrug.
"You've thought about this huh, okay we'll do that, but with the keys I think we should give them to someone here. At the hospital." Mayas voice went quieter with each word she spoke, she didn't know what Carina would think about that because normally they would trust anyone at the station but under the circumstances things have obviously changed.
She didn't want Carina to think she was crazy also.
"You don't want to give them to someone at the station?" Carina questioned noticing the change in demeanour from the blonde.
"No. I mean I..." she took a deep breath before continuing "I just left, I didn't even say goodbye. I mean what would I say and if we choose one of them then I'm going to have to talk to them and I honestly don't feel ready to do that yet" she answered and started to play with her fingers towards the end.
Nodding Carina goes silent for a few minutes thinking about who they could ask. "What about Teddy. We trust her and I remember her telling me to forgive you in front of the hospital many years ago" she giggled trying to lighten the mood.
"Mmm yeah I like that idea, okay book those tickets then let's go get packed". Maya smiled then they gave each other a peck on the lips but both pulled each other in for a passionate kiss one. They haven't shared a kiss like that in a while, not realising how much they need it as they both completely melted into it.
Pulling back as air was needed Carina spoke "Let's go. I can message Teddy to come by later, her shift finishes around 5 and we need to leave for the airport at 5:30." Taking her wife's hand in hers Carina locked up her office and dropped the keys off at the nurses station with strict instructions to give them to Chief Miranda Bailey.
