The opening Dragon Race was about to begin and as usual the race was an individual speed race with the course set to once around the Entire Castle of Hogwarts. The dragon racing teams were making some adjustments to their gear and checking on their dragons and which three racers from each house team would be entering the opening dragon race. The Gryffindors already decided on sending in Team Captain Russell Carlin and his younger sister Carol Carlin on account of them being strong and capable racers but to the surprise of the group Russel decided on putting in first time racer Melanie Perkins, a Gryffindor 3rd year and a cousin of Maggie Perkins and her brothers on their dad's side of the family via their dad's younger sister Maida Perkins. The girl in question rode upon a White Draconium Sky Class Dragon as her partner and had the horns, wings and spade tail of a succubus and the very impressive bust size just like her mother Maida Perkins and her grandmother Adara Perkins.
"Okay team this is it the opening Dragon Race," Russell Carlin said, "We won the Dragon Racing Cup last year and the year before that. We're off to a solid start but even so we have to remember that it's not just how we start it's how we finish."
The Gryffindor Dragon Racing Team knew what Russell Carlin meant due to the events of the previous years with the events of Charlie Weasley's final year being a prime example. Oliver Wood the current Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team had gotten sick before the final match and Eris Discord Hever of Gryffindor had to take his place in the match due to be the understudy keeper at her own insistence. Because of her Gryffindor was able to win the Quidditch Cup despite losing the match against Slytherin House by only 10 points. However that near miss opened Yzma's eyes and that in turn helped Yzma open Dumbledore's eyes as well as Rolanda's eyes about the need for reserve Quidditch Teams being mandatory and all safety precautions being made necessary as well as the rule being quidditch matches are not to be played in terrible weather such as thunderstorms and the like.
"We all know that by now," Eris Discord Hever, a Gryffindor Girl in the same year as Russell Carlin, Oliver Wood, Percy Weasley, and Audrey McGowan, "My cousins, Siblings, and I all know the value of reserve teams and understudies. Still only some of us are dragon racers, some are quidditch players and some such as myself have to put our feet into both if the situation requires it at least until a suitable replacement comes."
"Which is why we all need to be ready for anything and everything," Russell said.
The rest of the team understood as they prepared for anything and everything that could happen during the opening dragon race.
Duncan and the rest of the newly hired staff which included Dumbledore's personal secretary were taking their places in the teacher's stands to watch the opening dragon race along with the rest of the staff at Hogwarts.
"This is it the first Draconium Dragon Race of Hogwarts," Professor Bathory said, "I've seen many Draconium Dragon Races at Ilvermorny but this is the first Draconium Dragon Race I'm seeing at Hogwarts."
"Draconium Dragon Racing has been at the school since the time of the founders," said Professor Sinistra, "The sport is much older that Quidditch and is very intense. Still Draconium Dragon Racing helps build discipline, Teamwork and trust between Dragon and Rider."
"Let's hope you're right about that," Margaret Rosenblatt spoke, "Even so the house rivalries are not as intense here as they are on the quidditch pitch. Either way Draconium Dragon Racing quite dangerous so let's hope Yzma knows what she's doing here."
"Obviously you don't know Yzma as well as you think you do," Professor Snape remarked in his usual tone, "Otherwise you'd see that she has already taken the highest level of safety when getting the track ready. Ow!"
