The drive back to the house was painfully silent, well apart from the song that was playing in the background, at a low volume, other than that; Pezzy and Droid were not speaking to each other. But this time... it was warranted. They didn't mind it. Pezzy was finally able to stop crying, about two ½ miles ago, and now he had his head resting against the cold glass of the window, just watching the night sky go by, with the lamp posts being the only source of light on the road. But, hey, the stars are shining. Everything was beautiful. In a sense. In.. in a sense.
Droid's ringtone interrupted the song, and he looked over to see who was calling "Grizzwald". Oh shit, Droid didn't call Grizzy and tell him that he found Pezzy. He forgot. Pressing the answer call button on his steering wheel he answered with "Yeah?"
'Droid, did you find Pezzy? Is he alright?' Grizzy asked him. Droid nodded. Forgetting that Grizzy can't see him, he responded with;
"Yeah, he's okay. But, there's one slight issue, his car is... it's completely totaled."
Grizzy on the other line was shocked. What the hell did he mean completely totaled? Grizzy asked himself. There's no way that it's THAT bad is it? Jesus, he really didn't want to know how bad it was. But, he had to. Just to make sure Pezzy is okay. 'What happened?' Grizzy asked in a worried tone.
Droid looked over at Pezzy, who was too busy still staring out the window, and he knew he wouldn't be able to say anything without getting choked up, and bursting into tears, if he even had to speak about what happened to that lady and her kids. Sighing, Droid, replied. "It was a crash. Just... just the wrong place at the wrong time."
'Shit! Is he okay?' Grizzy asked as he was now extremely worried about his friend.
"Yeah, he's fine. We're just gonna have to make sure nothing is broken, like his ribs or anything. The only bad thing about him right now is the cuts and bruises, other than that he's fine. He's a big boy Grizzy, he's gonna be fine." Droid told him, and then slightly laughed at the last sentence. Droid's eyes slightly glanced at Pezzy, who was still staring out the window, but he saw the small, yet cute, smile beginning to dance on his lips.
God even in this shitty light, it still managed to make Pezzy look beautiful.
Grizzy just laughed softly, before he spoke again. 'Alright, then,' he paused. Droid could feel what was coming. He knew he was going to ask. 'Droid,'
"Yeah?" Droid asked softly, but loud enough for Grizzy to hear.
'Was there... was there anyone else involved?'
There it was. That damned dreaded question; "Was there anyone else involved?" Droid knew that he couldn't lie to Grizzy about that so sighed and answered his question; as much as he didn't want to. "Yeah. Sadly, there was."
It was silent, all that could be heard was Grizzy sighing. 'Shit. That sounds terrible,' he started, as he was trying to find the right words, he began to speak again. 'Are they okay at least?'
Droid looked over to see Pezzy's bottom lip beginning to tremble, and he began to chew on it, so he didn't start crying. He squeezed his eyes tightly shut, before he began to fiddle with his bracelet with his shaky hands, now in better light Droid could see there was blood staining them a little bit. Droid couldn't tell if it was Pezzy's blood or ... or theirs.
Droid reached over and grabbed his hand. Interlacing their fingers together, he gave his hand a gentle and loving squeeze, and just held on to his hand. He was never gonna let his hand go. Not this time. Not this time.
"Well, to really sum it up, it wasn't good. It wasn't good. I'll tell you later privately. This isn't something I think we should really get into right now." Droid told Grizzy. Grizzy understood. It really must be bad, if Droid didn't want to talk about it.
