I woke up to a rather soothing voice whispering to me. "Twelve, it's time to get up." Miss Violet whispered. Miss Violet was Papa's assistant. She helps him take care of me and teaches me how to use my powers. She was very nice. She never yelled, and was never the one who punished me when I couldn't use my powers.
No.
That was Papa.
I sat up and looked at her, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. "Hello." I said. She smiled. "Shall we get you dressed and then eat some breakfast?" Miss Violet asked. I nod. She helped me get changed and then I was ready to eat. She held out her hand. I took it, and we walked into the small room we always ate in.
There, Papa was sipping on something in a mug. "Good morning, Twelve." He said. "Hi." I replied quietly. We sat down. Papa gestured to a box of crunchy O's and a bottle of milk. "Help yourself." He said with a smile. I grabbed the cereal and poured it into a bowl, then added milk. "So, Twelve." Papa said as I spooned some cereal into my mouth. I froze. Did he find out that I snuck out of my room yesterday? "Yes?" I ask cautiously. "I was thinking, today we could work on your powers a bit. What do you think?" He asked. I breath a sigh of relief. He hadn't found out. I nod slowly. Papa smiles. "Wonderful"
We finished up our breakfast and Papa took my hand while Miss Violet cleaned up the table. Papa lead me to what we called the practice room. He put a wire thing on my head. "Now, I want you to close your eyes and relax your mind. Think of... something that makes you calm." He said. I closed my eyes and took some deep breaths. I tried to think of something that made me feel calm. It wasn't working. "Stay relaxed." He says.
I thought back to a few years ago. Eleven and I were in the rainbow room, reading a story together. I smiled. Neither of us could read it, but we liked to cuddle up together and look at the pictures. I remembered it perfectly. There was a pretty little town. And a small forest. With tall animals that had white spots on their backs. Some of them had horns. And there were little birds and small creatures with fluffy tails. Everyone who lived in the town knew eachother. I heard a ticking sound. "Very good." I heard Papa say.
"Now, I'm going to play this noise. I want you to concentrate very hard and think about Miss Violet." Papa flicked a switch and a humming noise started. I did as I was told. Suddenly I opened my eyes. I wasn't in the practice room anymore. I smiled and laughed. To my right, I could see Miss Violet, though the vision of her was flickering. "I found her!" I say excitedly. "Very good. Now what is she doing?" He asked.
"Not sure." I say.
"What does it look like?"
"... Papers."
"Papers? What about them?"
"Miss Violet looking at papers."
I heard writing on a clipboard. "Can you see what papers she looking at?" I walked closer to Miss Violet. But before I could even get close, she disappeared. I frowned. "Miss Violet gone." I said. "Can you try and find her again?" Papa asked. I tried, but then everything went dark. I opened my eyes. I looked up to Papa, confused. "You seem to have lost connection. I need you to try harder." He pressed.
After a couple more tries, we hadn't gone anywhere. Papa sighed. "Let's try your telekinesis." He said finally. Papa pulled out a little car. "Can you move this?" He asked. I shrugged. "Try." He said. I took another deep breath and held out my arm. I closed my eyes and concentrated on the car. We had to try five times and I did eventually move it.
He grabbed an empty juice box. "Do you remember when you crushed that soda can, I think it was last year?" I nod. "I want you to do that to this juice box." Papa instructed. I held out my hand and stared at the juice box, thinking only about the box. I tried, and tried but I couldn't crush it.
"Remember when... You saw the others making fun of Eleven?" Papa asked.
"Yes."
"I want you to think about that while trying to crush the juice box."
I closed my eyes and thought back to 1982. I had walked into the rainbow room and found a circle of kids standing around Eleven. They were making fun of her for struggling with using her powers. I remembered none of the other kids that were sitting in the room were doing anything. I got angry. So I fought the bullies. When I thought about it, the feeling returned. There was a crushing sound. I opened my eyes and to my surprise, the table that had been in front of me was broken on the floor, with the now crushed juice box. I wiped my bloody nose and looked at Papa. He was beaming. He wrote something on his clipboard.
"Perfect."
A/N- Sorry this chapter might be kinda boring, I wasn't entirely sure on what to write about. Hope you have a good day/night!
