Twelve's POV

We started reinforcing everything. Pulling metal sheets from one thing, and putting them in or around another thing. Steve started pouring some liquid all over the ground. When we were all done, we went inside of the long car.

"So.. you really fought one of these before?" Max asked. Steve nodded. "And you're, like, totally, 100% sure it wasn't a bear?" Max asked. "Shit. Don't be an idiot. Okay? It wasn't a bear.  Why are you even here if you don't believe us? Just go home." Dustin said.

"Geesh. Someone's cranky. Past your bedtime?" Max asked, while getting up and climbing up the ladder. Dustin continued pacing around. "That's good. Just show her you don't care." Steve said. "I don't." Dustin said. Steve winked. "Why are you winking, Steve? Stop." Dustin said. I looked at the both of them, very confused.

Steve shrugged and started playing with his lighter again. It was silent, other than the clicking and soft murmuring of Max and Lucas above us. "Dustin?" I say. "Yeah?" Dustin replied. "Food." I say.

"Oh, shit. You haven't eaten much today, have you?" He asks. I shake my head. He goes into his bag and pulls out pudding, granola bars and a bottle of water (Your reminder to go drink water). My eyes lit up. "Pudding!" I cheer. Dustin chuckles, and I think Steve did too.

I was halfway through eating and drinking when there was some sort of sound off in the distance. Steve sits up and rushes to the window, and Dustin does the same. "You see him?" Dustin asked. "No." Steve replied. "Lucas, what's going on up there?" Dustin shouts.

"Hold on!" He shouts. "I've got eyes! Ten o'clock! Ten o'clock!" Lucas shouts. Steve points somewhere. "There." He whispers. "What's he doing?" Dustin asked. "I don't know." Steve replied. I got up and stood beside them.

In the fog a couple meters away from us, stood a figure. It almost looked like a dog, but it wasn't. I could hear the sounds it was making, and it wasn't barking. "Its not taking the bait. Why is it not taking the bait?" Steve asked.

"Not hungry?" I suggested. "Maybe he's sick of cow." Steve said. He walked away from the window and grabbed his bat covered in nails. "Steve. Steve, what are you doing. Steve." Dustin said. Steve turned around and held out his lighter. "Just get ready." He said, tossing it to me.
