The Lab

Dustin's POV

I may have promised Twelve that we wouldn't go inside that awful place, but we definitely needed to get closer to it. "We'll go up to the front gate, but that's all." I reassured her. Twelve agreed to this.

We walked down the hill through the forest. I wish we could have driven. It would have been far quicker. Unfortunately though, Steve's car was way farther back. Eventually we reached the front gate, where we were surprised to find Johnathan and Nancy. 

"Steve!?" They cried. 

"Nancy!?"

"Johnathan."

"What are you doing here?" Nancy asked incredulously. "What are you doing here?" Steve countered. "We're looking for Will and Mike." Nancy said. "They're not in there, are they?" I ask. "We're not sure." Nancy replied. "Why?" Johnathan questioned.

"Wait a second, who... are you?" Nancy asked. Max looked confused. "Me?" She asked. "No... you." She said, pointing to Twelve, who had been hiding behind Steve again. "That's Twelve." I say. Nancy looks confused. "Who?" Nancy asked.

"Twelve. She's a girl from the lab, like El was. Dustin found her last night." Lucas said. "She's got cool super powers too." I say grinning. "Did you know El?" Johnathan asked.

Twelve nods. "Best friend." She says. Nancy smiles sadly. "Your friend helped us quite a bit." Nancy told her. Twelve smiles slightly and nods.

Suddenly there was a screech that came from the lab. It sounded like the Demogorgans. 

Twelve's POV

Everyone began frantically talking.

"Have you seen Mike?"

"We need to find them."

"When's the last time you saw him?"

"We haven't seen Will since-"

Nancy shoved past everyone. "The powers back on." She said, looking at the building. It was true, light was now shining through all windows in the lab. Then the gate opened. "Hey, I opened it!" Dustin cheered. 

Johnathan looked at Nancy. "Come on." He said. They jumped into a car and sped through the gate, towards the doors. Then we waited. After a little while, we heard engines getting closer. "Guys?" Max said. Two cars came around the corner, honking their horns.

We ran out the way, so we didn't get hit. Nancy and Johnathan sped past us, but a car behind them stopped. Inside, there was a man with a mustache wearing blue clothing. He rolled down his window. "Let's go." He said. We frantically climbed in. "Hold up." The man shouted. We paused. 

"Who's the kid?" He asked. Dustin sighed, clearly tired of explaining. "This is-" I held up my wrist and pointed to the number. "Twelve." I say. "She's like El." Dustin said. "There's... more?" The man asked. I frowned. "Huh?" I say. "There's more lab kids?" He asked. I shook my head. "Last." I say, pointing to me.

"I see..." He says. We drive away, and reach someone's house. I jump out of the car and look around at my surroundings. The house was small, and there were trees all around it. It was nice though. I hear a soft gasp from behind me. 

"El...?"
