A Plan

I sat in a room that was very similar to the rainbow room, except this room was smaller and more empty. This made sense because I was the only child left. We called the room the "play room". I was playing with a toy that looked like a little girl. She had beautiful long black hair, and shiny green eyes. I wish I had hair like hers. Her dress was pretty too. It was pale pink, and had lace. She was my favorite toy.

A door opened. I turned around and saw Miss Violet approaching me. "Hello Twelve." She said, sounding a little nervous. "Hello." I replied. "Can you come with me?" She asked. I nod my head. She takes into the bathroom. I look at her with confusion.

Miss Violet looks at me, her face full of seriousness. "Twelve. You are going to escape for the final time." She said. Okay, now I was really confused. "Huh?" I asked. "You need to leave to this place. You deserve to live a good life. We are going to end this, once and for all." She said. I stared at her. I was going to escape? For the last time? It felt like a dream. "Meet me here, tonight when the clock points to the 8 and 12. I've got a plan."

I was leaving soon. I had a small bag that Miss Violet and slipped me during dinner. It had a little water bottle and a tiny package of cereal. Miss Violet told me to leave my room when the clock was 10 ticks away from the 12. As for the cameras, she would take care of it. I sat on my bed, watching the clock. I heard the little red hand on it move.

Tick, tick, tick. The big hand moved.

Tick, tick, tick. The big hand moved again.

Anxiety started building up in my chest.

Tick, tick, tick, tick.

The glass on the clock started cracking.

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick.

The glass exploded. I looked at it in confusion. I picked up the clock. Did I do that...? I decided it was time for me to head to the play room bathroom. I picked up my bag, and headed out the door.

Miss Violet was waiting for me when I arrived. She smiled. "Are you ready dear?" She asked. I nodded. "Yes." I responded.

"Okay."

Miss Violet paused. "Twelve, have you ever wondered how you got your powers?" I thought about this for a moment, then nodded. "Everyone got them from their mothers. And their mothers got them from a needle Papa gave them. Papa lied to them and said that their babies died while giving birth. Some of them were very sad. Some didn't care. And the rest of them knew the babies were alive. So they went looking for them. All of them died. Except for one, who put on an act and signed up to work along aside your Papa, so she could make sure her baby was safe and eventually help her escape. Do you know who that baby was, Twelve?" She asked.

I shook my head.

"It was you Twelve. The baby was you."

I stared at her. But then... Who was the lady? Who was my Mama? "Who's Mama?" I asked. Miss Violet took a deep breath and then smiled.

"I am, dear." She said, tears in her eyes. I was slightly confused. Miss Violet was my Mama? After all these years, my Mama was always here, taking care of me. It made sense, we shared some if the same looks. And Miss Violet was always there whenever I needed her, just like a real Mama. A smile grew on my face.

"Mama." I said, looking up at her. I hugged her and had on tight. She hugged me back. The hug only lasted a short moment and then she let go.

"Alright, we need to go over the plan." She said.

She explained everything to me. She lead me to the emergency escape and then run back and distract Papa and the guards. She handed me a map and said to follow the purple line. Mama told me she would catch up to me when I used my telepathy to send her a message. "But my powers..." I trailed off, looking at my hand. "Your powers work fine, love. Just focus really, really hard." She told me, rubbing my back. I looked up at her and smiled.

"Are you ready?" Mama asked.

"Ready." I responded.
