Alone

Viserys called for a 'family' supper, so I have to leave for that in about an hour. I feel the sudden urge to get out of my chambers, so I do. I leave and I go out to the courtyard. The sun is slowly going down so it feels chilled out with a blue hue to the air.

I pick up my dress so it doesn't drag and carry dirt around. A breeze passes and I shiver, the skin on my arms raising. I sit on a hill of grass beneath a tree and rest my eyes.

I hear a branch break and my eyes shoot open as I sit up quickly. Hands placed at my sides as I look around. A sigh of relief escapes me as I see that it's just Aemond.

"You nearly scared me to the grave." I say with a hand placed on my chest.

"Well that wouldn't be very good, now would it?" He says as he sits next to me on the grass.

"What are you doing out here all alone?" He asks.

"I feel like I can't breathe in there. It's not the same as when we were kids." I look to him on the right of me.

"No it isn't." He states looking at me deep in the eyes. I get the feeling he isn't talking about the same thing as I.

"Your brother doesn't like it very much when we're alone." He's still looking at me.

"No he doesn't." I laugh.

"We're alone right now." He points out .

"Indeed we are." I agree. I notice his eyes leave mine and go down to my lips. I feel as if I can't breathe, but not in a bad way.

His hand leaves his side and he places it on one of mine, lightly brushing the tops of my fingers.

"I never gave you a second glance when we were children." He realizes in a whisper.

"And now?" I ask turning my head to get the attention of his eyes while he looks at our hands.

"I can't keep my eyes off of you. Or my thoughts for that matter." He finally looks into my eyes again.

I lick my lips and clear my throat as I move my hand from his and into my lap.

"Why now?" I ask.

"I don't know. But my mother told me to stay away from you just as your brother has." He looks straight ahead, his eyes following the moving branches that dance in the wind of the night.

"Sometimes I feel as if my life is purely business and a chance for power instead of actual life." He says.

I give him a look of confusion due to the sudden outpour of emotion.

"That was most random, but me too." I laugh.

I grab his wrist and set both of our hands in my lap. Then I look up at him. He has this twinkle in his eye, almost like a look of admiration and hope.

He leans in, so so close. My breathing picks up and I can feel my chest move up and down faster. I look at his eyes and then his lips. He moves in a little more, his lips barely brushing mine, but there's a sound coming from beyond a bush. Our faces snap over to the bush and we see Lucerys standing there with his hands over his mouth and eyes wide. I look at our hands and almost as if he can read my mind. Aemond lets go. He stands up and walks close to Luke, slightly hitting his shoulder as he moves past.

"Please, please Luke do not speak any of what you saw to Jace. Please!" I exclaim as I rush up to him and grab his shoulders, slightly shaking him.

"You owe me BIG time if I don't Rhane." He says.

"Okay, whatever you want just do NOT tell him." I stare dead into his eyes.

He backs up with both hands in the air and tells me he won't.
