It's getting dark out and I'm rushing trying to quickly throw my dresses into a trunk to put on a boat. I want to see my brothers. I can't be here any longer or I swear my heart might stop.
The doors open and I hear quick footsteps running into my room. Someone grabs my arms pulling me towards them to stop me from what I'm doing. It's Aemond.
"You can't leave, please. I don't know what my family wishes to do but I can't have you with your family or it will be as if you have a target attached to you." He says looking intensely into my eyes.
"I do not care for what you want. I must see my brothers. I didn't get to say goodbye to them, Aemond. I don't know what will happen, and I would not be able to live with myself if one of them got hurt and I was not by their side." I rip my arms from his grip and continue piling the dresses.
He steps close to the trunk and as I put new dresses in he grabs them and places them back on the bed.
"Aemond." I warn.
"Quit it with the childish games, I'm leaving." I say
He stares at me, I can't seem to look away from his gaze, it's like he's hypnotized me.
"No. You're not."
With no warning he rushes over to me, grabs my face and presses his lips to mine. It was different this time then at the ceremony, less shy, more passionate.
After a while I feel like my chest is burning from lack of oxygen. He pulls away.
"I would say I'm sorry, but I'm not." He speaks as his hands leave my face and he steps back.
"Neither am I." I say before I quickly step over and grab his neck pulling him to me this time. His hands grab the sides of my waist and he leads me backwards to the bed.
He falls on top of me looking me in the eyes.
"Are you sure?" He asks.
It takes me a second but when I look into his eye I don't see this cold, quiet man that he eagerly wants to be, I see a man who just needs to feel loved.
"Yes." I say.
He begins removing his shirt as I start untying my corset. Then he grabs the back of my head lifting it so our lips meet once again. He adjusts us so we're fully laying on the bed.
It's safe to say that we consummated our very real marriage.
The sun is bleeding through the windows. I look over to my left to see it empty.
I start walking out and reach the outer rooms. No one, he left.
I quickly put an all black dress on and stepped out of the room.
"Where did Aemond go?" I ask the knight standing outside my doors.
"He went to see Lord Borros Baratheon." He says while looking straight ahead, not giving me a single glance.
"Oh, okay." I say starting to walk away.
He stops me by saying "He told me to say that he shall be back in time for dinner. And that he hopes to relive last nights 'festivities'."
I blush with embarrassment. "OH. Okay, goodbye now." I say walking off as fast as I can without looking like I'm running away, which I am.
I get to the courtyard when I see a boat sail off.
"Where are they going?" I ask a man looking at the weaponry.
"That's Otto and the guards, they're going to Dragon Stone to tell your parents that they have to say Aegon is king or else they live a shit life then die." He says pretty monotone then looks at me and gives me a quick smile.
"Well fuck." I say giving him a smile back.
It's been hours, the sun is starting to set and the ladies bring me my dinner because I don't want to go sit with the Targaryen's and the Hightower's. I hear the door open and Alicent barges in.
"Something has happened, Aemond just arrived. He won't speak to me but he's in his chambers." She says worriedly.
I stand up and run out the doors down the halls passing all of the Lords and Ladies while they give me pointed looks.
I get to his doors and shove them open. Once I make it inside I see Aemond sitting on the floor, his head between his knees and his arms and hands covering his ears. Sobs, I hear sobs.
I rush over to him and pry his arms off of himself and grab his face.
"What happened?" I ask him.
"Are you okay?" I ask another question.
"I did something Rhane." He starts "I did something terrible and I didn't mean to." He just grabs me and hugs my waist, still sitting on the floor.
"It's okay." I whisper, grabbing his head, stroking his hair. "It's okay." I repeat over and over again.
We sat there on the floor for a while until he stopped crying.
"Come on, let's get you off the floor." I say grabbing his hands pulling him up.
We walk to the bed and we both get into the bed, he grabs my hand.
"I'm not gonna let go of you." He says.
"Okay." I say back.
We fell asleep like that, peaceful. For now.
The next morning I got up and snuck out not wishing to wake him because he had a long day the previous night.
I walk to my room and find a letter awaiting my opening on the table.
I grab it and open the letter. It's from Daemon.
'My dear Rhane, I'm so sorry. Your mother can't bring herself to write to you. I write bearing sorrowful news. Your brother Lucerys has passed. He was sent on Dragon back to remind Lord Borros of his fathers allegiance to Rhaenyra. Many towns folk say that after Lucerys left Storms End they also saw Prince Aemond fly after him. Arrax's head washed ashore, Lucerys nowhere to be found. We believe that Vhagar and Aemond attacked them. I'm sure you're aware that Aegon II has been crowned King. We have sent someone to sail and grab you from King's Landing. You no longer need to marry Prince Aemond. We need you home.' Love Daemon.
When I was younger I had imagined how I would react to a loved one's death. I believed that I would scream my throat raw, and create a flood with my tears. But that's not what happened. I do feel sadness, but I feel more anger, and rage. I sat on the couch staring at the note. A singular tear fell from my eyes. I folded up the note, packed my trunk, and walked out. I told the knight to tell Aemond that Arrax's head washed ashore. I sat on my trunk waiting for the ship to arrive and once it did I immediately got on. Not looking back.
Kings Landing was nearly out of sight when I heard Aemonds screams begging for me to come back. I just walked to the front of the ship focusing my attention on the crashing waves and the peaceful sounds they create.
I will spend the rest of my days making sure that family suffers. I never got to say goodbye. My boy. My baby brother. My Luke. I didn't get to tell him how much I loved him.
