astraphobia: fear of thunder or lightning.

"what does christianity mean to you. this is a question that everyone should be asking themselves everyday, what does christianity mean to me."
our supposed to be father is talking to us in study hall. i'm pretty sure study hall is supposed to be some kind of free period but not here i guess.
it's raining heavily as well as thundering and it's all i can think about. i sneak my phone under the table to check the weather app.
all day is supposed to be like this? "you've got to be fucking kidding-"
"Mr. Wheeler do we need to have a talk after class." Father Bryce said in a stern voice.
all eyes were on me, "no i'm good." i said while putting my phone away and he went back to whatever he was talking about.
i can't stand thunder. it's trauma based of course. my mom passed away in a car accident, it just so happened that it was raining really bad that night. a struck of lighting hit her car and that caused her to swerve and.. yeah.
so now thunder, even just the sound of it, is triggering for me.

"hey Jake." Lexy softly knocks on my room door. i've just been doing homework all day.
"jeez, it's real dark in here." she said that because i had the black out curtains shut. this was so the thunder wouldn't bother me as much and i put my headphones in.
the sun was about to set and my anxiety is already flaring up.
"yeah it's just, i'm not the biggest fan of rain." i said in a nervous tone.
thunder is rumbling loudly outside.
"really, i love it. rain is kind of therapeutic." she smiled sitting on the edge of my bed.
i nod my eye trying to listen but my eyes keep gazing over to my draw where my zoloft and vape is.
just grab it real quick she won't think anything.
-yeah but don't you think it's a little awkward to just pop a pill in the middle of a conversation.
i was arguing with my own voices in my head where i couldn't hear anything around me-
"Devon why are you here." Lexy's voice instantly broke me out of my thoughts.
i look up from my paper and i see Devon standing by the door.
"the door was wide open so i saw it as an invitation." Devon smirked a little putting his hands in his pockets.
"okay great well i have to do something. very important." i cleared my throat standing up.
"alright." Lexy didn't care and went to leave but Devon is being, Devon.
"what is so important Mr.Wheeler. by the way you may have to make a confession for that little sin of yours that you did earlier." he winked walking closer to me.
"well then you must make a confession several times a day." i sassed and i grabbed his arm to lead him out the door.
i flinch at the sound of the thunder once again and he noticed, "don't worry Jake the scary thunders not gonna get you." he said sarcastically.
"fuck you." i cursed then i swing the door shut and locked it.
"i know you want to." i hear his voice faintly say behind the shut door.
