Chapter 01: Acquaintance

"I sucked up that whole thing!"

Thana threw her hands in the air just after she placed a stack of files with a thud on the table that Bright was working on.

"Yeah, you are really good at that."

There was an evident smirk plastered on his lips as the officer looked up from his papers to meet the face of his frustrated ex-girlfriend who also happens to be his best friend now and to that Thana gave him an earnest glare.

"Bright, mind out of the gutter, please."

She rolled her eyes huffing, and Bright let out a deep baritone laugh as he placed the paper away and looked at Thana concerned.

Anything messed up in Special Police only meant trouble, and he quite didn't like the idea of that right now. Bright was right after a mission which sucked all his energy out of him, and the least thing he wanted right now was for Thana to get into trouble. He particularly hates the idea of Thana getting hurt. They may not be a thing now, but when they were, both of them did love each other wholeheartedly, and Bright still cares for her deeply. For one, he knows Thana cares for him like that, too.

A sudden smack on his head brought him back to reality, and Bright hissed as he glared at Thana.

"What the heck..."

He muttered to a grinning best friend, and Thana smiled at him with a little playful warning in her eyes.

"Stop imagining me sucking your dick. Not the time."

"WHAT THE FUCK THANA?! NO!"

Bright broke into a laughter along with her and soon enough the tense atmosphere disappeared for a while as both of them looked at each other with pleasing smiles. Thana leaned on Bright's table as she took a deep breath.

"You know I never thought of you that way after we broke up. I respect you and our relationship in the past Thana. I have thought about a lot of things when we dated but the moment you called it ends, I stopped everything whatsover."

"C'mon, I was kidding..."

Thana said, smiling from ear to ear as she looked at Bright dearly, and Bright nodded a bit, acknowledging what she said.

"Now, what did you suck at?"

Bright asked, taking a deep breath as they broke their gazes and Thana's face scrunched up.

"The conversation with your dad."

The moment the words escaped her lips, Bright rolled his eyes and sighed heavily and felt like he had aged ten years.

His father and Thana has been like that bickering father-daughter duo ever since he introduced her to him about six years ago. Even after Bright and Thana broke up, the bond between his father and Thana didn't change.

"Why do you even talk if all you are gonna do is fight with each other? Ugh! Now I will have to listen to his complaints when I get home!"

Bright whined as he carelessly reopened his papers to work on them because, for once in all, this shit isn't important at all.

"Shut up, alright! You were the reason we fought to begin with!"

"What has this got to do with me?"

Bright looked at her genuinely offended as his name had been pulled into this out of nowhere, and Thana scoffed comically.

"When I went to give the reports of the Noel case to your dad this morning, he started to blabber about how his son is single because of me and apparently he thinks that you are still single after our breakup because you can't move on from me."
