Muggle technology seemed wonderful to him. Having grown up in a magical environment, it played against him when it came to the most essential things in life, so at that moment, when he met that Muggle box, he couldn't get it out of his memory.

The people moved fluidly, in black and white, and live. The sound, though not quite clear, was understandable. He was mesmerized by the movement. Being similar to the magic used in the school paintings, or the movement of the photographs, but not quite the same.

Both James and Sirius sat on top of the carpet, hypnotized. Remus looked at them strangely, when the first thing they did when they arrived at his apartment was that: turn on the television and start snooping through the gadgets in his house.

"And you say that's happening right now" James muttered, pointing at the screen. Lupin nodded, lighting the fire to boil water. "Unbelievable. Why on earth don't we have anything like that?"

"Imagine watching Quidditch from your house. That would be awesome!"

Remus didn't even attempt to explain that they didn't need it, since they could have just a handful of flu powder to get to the quidditch stadium.

They were broadcasting a basketball game, more specifically, the Yugoslavia vs. Italy match. Who were competing in the Moscow Olympics.

"Is that what they're playing, hoop, ball, basket? I still don't understand the game. Why is there only one ball?"

"It's basketball, Sirius" explained Remus, a bit tired of his friends' lack of culture. "It's like Quidditch; but without brooms, magic, bludgers going for your head, a snitch to catch. The concept is the same, though."

"How boring!"

"It's not boring" justified James, who was slowly coming to understand the game. "It's ordinary."

Sirius, who was bored by watching the game, began to check the appliances. Finding particular amusement with the microwave. Lupin was already regretting the expensive light bill he was about to get.

He finished making his tea, and ignoring Sirius' questions, went to sit next to James, who still thought the team with the least points won.

It was when they heard a small explosion coming from the kitchen, that he realized it might have been one of his worst ideas, leaving Sirius alone with a microwave. They got up and James ran to see what had happened, laughing out loud at the scene.

The whole wall was filthy, and only half of the microwave was left. Sirius had his hair in all directions, picking up his wand from the plate of the appliance, looking to the side. Lupin sighed, trying to remain calm, but it was that was a difficult task, when Sirius had also started laughing.

"Why did you stick your wand in MY microwave?" Lupin questioned, wiping the shelf with a bit of magic "You're worse than a toddler. Microwaves are for heating food, not wands!"

"Don't get so angry, you'll get wrinkles!" Sirius exclaimed, wiping himself "How much is one of those warming boxes worth? Because if it's money, you know I've got plenty of it."

There was a knock at the door, and Lupin went to answer it. The landlord, who was a tall, tanned Muggle man, showed up at Lupin's apartment after hearing the noise. Despite Lupin's explanations, the man wanted to check, finding Sirius and James in the kitchen, admiring the mess.

"What just happened here?!"

"Matthew, I'll explain outside" Lupin excused, grabbing the owner by his shirt. Sirius, upon seeing the man, frowned and pouted his lips.

Ten minutes passed, before Lupin came back in with a three-hundred-pound sterling debt and no microwave.

"Who was that jerk?" Sirius asked, jealous "He's a fool for sure!"

"Sirius, not now."

"He's angry, I told you, Padfoot!"

But no matter how much he insisted, Lupin lost what little patience he had and grabbed his friends by the scruff of the neck before throwing them out of his house. Although when he was about to close the door, he said:

"Sirius, you owe me eighty galleons, and you James twenty, just for putting up with them."

The discussion ended there, the boys looked at each other with a shrug, and waited for the elevator. When it opened, Lily, Peter, Mary, and Marlene appeared, staring at them with an immense amount of wonder on their faces.

"Long story, but I don't think there's going to be a party today." James muttered, stepping into the elevator "All questions to Sirius" The group looked at the man who shrugged and adjusted his jacket. "Now how did the Muggle elevators work?"
