Waking up, I blinked slowly before stretching as I rose into a sitting stance. Looking around, I realized I should probably take a sponge bath and freshen up for the day ahead as it had been awhile since the hospital. Luckily I had baby fine hair so it didn't get dirty often.
Swinging my legs over the side, I saw a knee scooter with a note attached. Reading it, I recognized Laurence's shoddy handwriting.
"Hey sis, I grabbed Margaret this morning to take her shopping. Apparently you both have dates coming up so she wanted to look cute. Some Olive girl? Anyways I dropped this knee scooter off so it'd be easier traveling upstairs. Stay safe little sis! :D"
Chuckling at the mention of my niece's upcoming date, I set myself on the knee scooter, directing myself with my right side only. Once in my bathroom, I carefully and slowly peeled my clothing off of my injured body and throwing them down in a heap. I grabbed a nearby loofah and lathered it in my vanilla scented soap. Avoiding my unwashable areas lined with stitches and staples, I got as clean as I could before moving on.
Rinsing off the remaining body soap from the loofah, I applied a two-in-one shampoo and conditioner. Also vanilla scented, I thoroughly washed my hair, letting the liquid absorb into my scalp before rinsing it off and wringing out any excess.
Drying myself off, I wheeled myself over to my wardrobe, opening the wooden doors. Seeing a wine colored button down shirt and some dark brown slacks, I smiled before beginning to dress myself.
Finishing in that department, I saw a golden chain that I adorned myself with before using a scrunchy to pull up my hair. Like I said, I have baby fine hair so it dries quickly.
Feeling clean and refreshed, I exited from one mobile movement device to another as I headed downstairs, my two animals following me. I pulled out the bag of dog food, setting it in my lap, as I poured it into Zeus' bowl. Feeling Cynthia rub against my leg, I also opened her up a can of tuna, petting her softly.
Hearing 3 sets of sharp knocks upon my door made me smile. I wheeled myself over to the door, remembering I did not give Byron my keys so he couldn't just prance inside.
"Who is it?" I asked cheerily, not opening the door just yet.
"The motherfucking Easter Bunny. Who the hell do you think it is?" Byron's soft chuckle permeated through the door.
Opening the door, I looked up to see Byron's grinning face. He held up a bag, likely with treats from Linda's and two coffee beverages.
"I come bearing gifts in return for the safe return of Mr. Baba." He exclaimed, looking at me up and down as I did to him.
"As you should. He's on the table where she forgot him- oh hang on a second, I'm getting a call."
Indeed I was, not from any number I recognized though. Answering it as I sipped on the peppermint beverage, the receiver echoed a raspy male voice.
"Where is she? Where is bride?" The voice demanded to know through broken English.
"I'm sorry, who is this?" I raised an eyebrow, a voice nagging me in the back of my mind to hang up.
"You do not know name? Very well. I am Ludmil Volkov and you seem to have stolen something from me."
Ludmil Volkov...
Ludmil Volkov...
Where have I heard that name before...
"Hello beauty. Sorry to interrupt your nap but I've got direct orders from the big guy. He wants both Margaret and yourself back at the base."
