Chapter 10

David walked forward passing Maya to glance at the body. Maya jerked her body around trying to follow David while not turning her back on the other three.

"I didn't mean to. I...I don't know what happened." Maya stuttered.

David ignored the girl and knelt down turning the head toward him.

"Clean work. Right on the throat. A lot neater than your first kill or any kill for that matter, Paul."

David and the other boys laughed at Paul before David rose and motioned to the body.

Paul frowned. He could not help it that he was a messy eater. He walked over and jerked the body off the ground and threw it in the dumpster. He pulled a match out and lit it up tossing it into the dumpster. Flames and smoke slowly appeared but it would take hours before cops would notice.

David turned and walked over to the girl. He started circling his new member and smirked as she fidgeted under his stare.

"Only a couple of drops on her. Impressive"

He smirked at Maya.

"Well kid, what's your name?"

Maya frowned at David. She glanced from him to the three other boys before turning her focus on him.

"My name is Maya and I know who you are. You are the lost boys. What the hell is going on? What's the matter with me?"

Paul and Marko started laughing. Paul walked over and wrapped an arm around Maya's shoulders.

"Girl chill. It's all good."

Marko nodded bringing his hand to his mouth covering his smile.

David smirked "You're a vampire. The wine you drank was blood...My blood. You were in transition, but you made your first kill so now you're a vampire."

Maya stared at him with her mouth hanging open. He had to be joking but her eyes turned toward where the body burned. She had drunk his blood. She was a vampire. Panic set in.

Thousands of questions popped into Maya's head and ever vampire movie fact she had seen ran through her mind.

What was she gonna do? She didn't know the first thing about being a vampire. What about hunters?

Maya's mind flashed back to the frog brothers and their vampire hunting dreams. How will she survive hunters?

David's smirk slowly melted into a soft smile. He walked over and placed a hand on her shoulder gaining her attention.

"We sleep all day, Maya. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It will be fun being a vampire especially the first ever Lost Girl Vampire. We are a family. Nothing gets between us. You are not alone."

Maya bit her lip. "What about hunters? The frog brothers go on and on about hunting vampires."

David and the others laughed.

"Those two are delusional. They wouldn't know a vampire if we appeared in front of them with a sign around our neck saying vampire." Paul stated.

David nodded "You have nothing to fear. We have your back just as we expect you to have ours. We will teach you all you need to know about surviving this life but also living it to the fullest."

Slowly the fear went away. No matter what happened this was her life now and her family.

David glanced at Dwayne before turning the focus on the girl. "Maya where is the blood and Marko's coat?"

"It's back at the factory. The old tire factory four blocks over."

David nodded before turning and walking down the alley way. "Let's go boys and girl. We have work to do."

Paul and Marko started hooting, hollering and pushing each other trying to knock the other down while following David.

Maya bit her lip. She had a fairly good idea what was going to happen to Kyle and the others.

Am I doing the right thing?

Dwayne placed a hand on Maya's shoulder. Yes, you are.

Maya jumped and looked at Dwayne. He reached up and tapped his head.

Vampire mind reading and speaking between pack members.

Maya nodded her head.

Dwayne squeezed her shoulder until the girl looked at him.

Remember we are your family now. All together. If they tell anyone else hunters could come. We need to stick together. In time you will forget about them. Trust me.

Maya nodded her head and allowed Dwayne to guide her into the darkness of the night.

She always said she would join the lost boys if she had to make a choice. Who would have figured out that Kyle would be the one who pushed her to the lost boys? Her new life had begun.
