(Platonic) (Reader will be an electro sword user. I also don't know if this counts as angst.)
"Please Y/N. I'll never ask for anything again. Plus I'm your best friend!" Ayaka pleaded as I walked through the garden of the Kamisato estate."Ayaka no. I've already said no so many times." I replied sounding a little more stern. "But you could really help me improve you're a master in swordsman ship. You've beat every opponent you've faced. Even my brother. That's amazing! I could really learn." She insisted. I sighed and turned to her I spoke in a voice laced with frustration,"Ayaka I'm saying no for reasons that are not important to you ok." I turned back around and closed my eyes as I heard her voice again,"Can you at least tell me why? Just one good reason." I paused I didn't know if I should tell her the truth or make up something. I turned to her and said,"Do you really want to know?" She nodded,"Well I'm scared of training with you and sparring and then you end up hurt. It's happened before I was shunned in my town for it. No one wanted to be around me because I was to 'Violent' and I nor have they let me forget it. I was an outcast, hated by everyone, a misfit in their society. It's actually the reason I got my vision." I paused and smiled at the purple gem around my neck. I continued,"I was ok sparring with the others because they don't mean much to me. But, keep it between you and me I went easy on Ayato that one time and I still beat him." I smiled at the end trying to make her kinda forget the depressing things I said before. She looked away from me with a sad expression. "Oh I apologize Y/N I wasn't aware I didn't intend to bring up unhappy memories." I looked down as well,"You didn't bring them up they never leave they're always present." I admitted. I tried to lighten the mood,"But hey, I'm like a legend in my town everyone knows me people tell their children about me. Although it's not in a good light it's still something." She looked at me,"That seems rather depressing, and it's not something that makes you happy." She paused,"I've got an idea! How about we go for a walk in your town and when everyone sees us together they'll realize you're not so bad if Lady Kamisato is with you." She smiled. I smiled at her enthusiasm,"I think they'll try to pull you away from me." She grabbed my hand and started practically dragging me to the exit of the estate,"Nonsense. I won't let them keep seeing you as a monster." She said as she pulled me. I got stable again and started following her. "OK I guess I have no choice." I sighed deciding not to argue.
I walked with Ayaka down the road. It was quiet until Ayaka broke the silence,"If you don't mind me asking Y/N, what exactly did the people in your town say to you?" I felt a lump in my throat having a horrible flashback. "Um well they said a lot. They said no human could have the strength I did and I must have been a curse sent by demons. I don't really know where they got that though. Even my parents tried to neglect me, I guess they were ashamed. The locals would often through rocks at me. Especially the superstitious ones." I tried to speak again but the pain of the memories strangled my neck and prevented me from speaking. Ayaka didn't say anything but the atmosphere grew solemn."How come you have never spoke of this to me before. If I'm not overstepping a boundary." I shook my head,"I saw it as a burden, or as a sob story that people would pity me for." I answered honestly. "But, we've been best friends for.......how many years? 7 or 6? I knew we were young adolescents." I looked at the ground,"7 Ayaka 7." I smiled. She smiled as well,"That's right sorry I'm so forgetful." I smiled. "Well let's pick up the paste a bit Y/N as the phrase goes 'There's no time for standing around." She said as she walked infront of me. I looked down I wasn't really sure if I was fully ok with going back to the place that gave me all these memories. All of this trauma. I began to feel anxious and my breathing increased slightly. Ayaka glanced at me but didn't say anything.
The trees grew less dense as we came close to exiting the forest. I quickly turned to the side and summoned my sword instinctively putting my arm infront of Ayaka. Ayaka summoned her weapon as well,"What's wrong?" "I heard something." I quickly replied. I yelled out and there was no response. "It could've been the wind, or a forest animal." I looked back."I guess i could've imagined it I am a little anxious right now." I said in a quiet voice. "If you don't feel comfortable going back to that place we can always just do something else." Ayaka said in a gentle voice. I shook my head,"No it's just I'm still a little worried they'll just treat me how they did when I was little." I started to walk again. The air grew thick and tense only making my anxiety worse. I had a lump in my throat that was becoming slightly painful. I was overthinking everything every breath I took I wondered if it was to loud, or to soon. I was a wreck. It wasn't like I was going to duel with the Shogun or walk straight into 1,000 ruin hunters! I could only hope to not have an anxiety or panic attack infront of Ayaka in the middle of a road where enemies could attack at anytime.
We were getting closer to the run down town. I could see the little houses in the distance. I felt my chest grow tighter. The anxiety inside me grew more. My thoughts were racing. "That's it." I said staring off. She looked at me then back at the village. "Oh we're getting close!" She said excitedly. I looked at the dirt path in front of me as we walked. I was taking deep breaths to calm myself.
We we're on the edge of the village. Our pace was slower because I was panicking internally. Ayaka gave me a reassuring pat on the shoulder, I breathed out and thanked her.i looked up and saw people outside some kids were running around and playing while the adults watched. I took a deep breath as I stepped farther. "Come on you're the one who wanted to do this." I say Turing my head to Ayaka. She stood next to me as we started walking down the main path. I saw some people do a double take as they saw me. I saw their face as some called their kids back to the house. I also heard screams things like,"Why are you back?! Just leave demon!" And "I swear to the Archons I'll kill you freak!" I was so ashamed I was almost crying. One person even started yelling at Ayaka,"Ms.Kamisato! She's not safe to be around." Ayaka simply glared at them,"Nonsense." She put her hand up and covered their face. I froze in fear as I heard footsteps. On reflex I grabbed Ayaka's arm and went to run when I was pulled back. I looked and saw a woman grabbed Ayaka's other arm. I let go reluctantly I didn't want to hurt Ayaka the woman was screaming about me being dangerous. Ayaka was denying her words and trying to pull away. "Ma'am if you do not let go I will have to pursue legal action." The woman released her arm and scowled at me before she turned and ushered her kids inside. It was like magic. Just a moment ago the town was full of life and now it was like a ghost town. Barren, empty, and quiet despite being loud just a second ago. I started walking to leave the town quick with my hand over my mouth. Ayaka followed quickly apologizing over and over. I just wanted to go home.
After a while I finally spoke to Ayaka. Tears were slowly falling,"I told you Ayaka I told you that place isn't safe for me. Everyone hates me." I said as I walked down the path. I wiped my face as I opened my eyes again I saw a group of hilichurls. It looked like they were scavenging. I tensed up I didn't want to fight them if they attacked I would kill them. But only if they attacked. I tried to move past them quickly Ayaka copied me. I made it past until I heard an abyss mage. I looked and saw a hydro one staring back at me. I summoned my sword and glared at it estimating how quickly I could defeat it. I said calmly to Ayaka,"Ayaka freeze it then I'll activate superconduct." She nodded and ran at it. She used her cyro skill and the mage was frozen stiff. I ran at it and hit it with my electro skill. I kept hitting it wearing down the durability of it's shield as much as I could. It summoned a bubble trying to trap one of us. I poked my sword atit not getting to close. I looked back up and the mage had teleported somewhere else. I looked around and spotted it again Ayaka ran over and froze it again. I attacked it with another skill and kept hitting it as did Ayaka. We kept using our skills over and over until the shield broke and the mage fell to the ground. I wasted no time. Immediately went after it again I slashed and stabbed until it faded. I panted lightly as I put sword away. I looked at Ayaka,"Are you hurt? Do you need anything?" I questioned making her look at me. She shook her head. We turned and continued down the path back to the Kamisato estate.
Once we were back Ayaka informed the guards of some monsters down the path. A small group of them disappeared down the trail. I sat in the garden admiring the view as Ayaka walked over. "The sun is starting to set, it pretty isn't it Y/N." I nodded. "Yeah this world is beautiful, even though some places bring or cause unhappy memories." I smiled slightly. She looked down,"I apologize about that." She said looking at me with remorse on her face."I already said it was okay Ayaka." I sighed turning my attention to the sunset. She only nodded and looked back at the sunset. That's how the day ended, us enjoying each other's company and watching the sunset. Even though the day wasn't perfect the ending was.
