Not once -Hu Tao x Reader

I sighed as I heard a familiar voice behind me,"Y/NNNNN!! Where are you? I know you're here somewhere." I opened my eyes, standing up walking to the edge of the peak I was on. I came here often when I meditated or just needed to be alone, that was until my friend Hu Tao figured out I came here but not specifically where on the mountain. "I'm up here Hu Tao." I looked down over the edge at her, she looked up smiling,"Ohhh, that's where you were. I'm coming up." She stated before walking up the mountain more. I turned back and closed my eyes again, taking a deep breath. Hu Tao was a nice friend but a little energetic, a little to much for me. I preferred to be quiet and reserved, she had a expressive colorful personality. People have said we even each other out nicely, which I can see. I heard her breathing,"Wow, how often do you climb this mountain? My legs feel like they're gonna break." She sat next to me."I guess, I come here almost everyday. I always come here to meditate." I said blankly,"Still couldn't you just, only meditate when you felt like it. You wouldn't have to climb up here as often." She questioned looking over the landscape,"You must do something continously if you want results." She rolled her eyes and stared at the clouds overhead,"Well I'll wait here until you finish your meditation." She smiled, I gave a small smile back and closed my eyes breathing deeply, and feeling the light wind blow past us.

I opened my eyes and saw Hu Tao with her eyes closed,"Are you trying to meditate Tao?" She looked at me and smiled,"Not to sound weird or anything, but I honestly admire you Y/N you're always calm, people seem to tolerate you more than they do me....It just makes me feel kind of like I'm just an annoying person, I guess I just wanna try to be more like you..." I looked away,"Oh....Well just because you're energetic doesn't mean people find you annoying. Some positive energy is useful, other wise it'd be gloomy all the time." I smiled at her,"Maybe but it makes me upset when someone asks a question and when I try to answer they just say never mind and ask someone else." She crossed her arms and looked down,"It makes me feel like a joke you know." I patted her on her shoulder,"How about we spend the day in the mountains? Some time away from the harbor might do you some good." She nodded and stood up. We started to walk down the mountain.

We had been walking around the base of Mt.Tianheng and the surrounding area. Hu Tao was telling me about how her business was going we were enjoying the scenery and the warm weather,"We should go to Lingju pass or Dunyu ruins after this." She suggested in the middle of telling me about a new coffin style she came up with."Sounds good but-" She cut me off pointing ahead of us,'Oh Y/N look! It's the girl from the pharmacy! I've been trying to get her business for weeks! I need to go talk to her." She tried to run over quickly bit I grabbed her sleeve,"Oh leave Qiqi alone she's just trying to get her herbs with Baizhu. You can ask her later." She looked at me with puppy eyes,"Tao no, let's finish our walk and then you can talk to her later." She sighed and rolled her eyes looking at Qiqi once more before crossing her arms and walking off frustrated. I sighed and walked after her.

"So are we going to Lingju pass or Dunyu ruins?" I smiled at her. She side eyed me,"I don't know you costed me a valuable customer.... and now that I thought about it Dunyu ruins...last I heard of that place somebody got seriously injured and ended up you know dying, because of some strong fatui, So I don't really think we should got there. But at Lingju pass there's a few hilichurls and maybe an abyss mage or two easy work." She looked at me with her usual smiley expression. She ran ahead of me,"I'll beat you there!" I quickly started running too,"You cheater!" I smiled as I chased her.

We both came to a quick stop infront of the stone structures. Hu Tao took a minute to catch her breath,"It's been so long since I been here..." I said the area bringing back some nostalgia. This is where I used to come to meditate before Hilichurls started staying here. Feels like forever ago." I said looking at the top of the tallest ruined building. "Oh did it used to be nicer, you know before it fell apart or was it always in shambles?" She joked looking over the buildings. She pointed to the top of the tallest building,"We should go up there, I bet the view is beautiful." I nodded,"There's a couple hilichurls but nothing serious." I shrugged as we started the climb up. We encountered few hilichurls and made quick work of them. When we got to the top we looked out over the landscape admiring the beauty of it. I glanced at Hu Tao and she seemed to be in a trance caused by the view of the sun setting over the land of Liyue. We both sat down and I brought my knees to my chest. "Did you noticed anything today Tao?" I asked looking over to her,"Nothing remarkable." She shook her head, I smiled,"You didn't notice how I spent a whole day with you without getting annoyed once." She looked down and smiled,"Thanks Y/N, I guess you're the only one who can do that." She looked back up at the sunset and we sat there together entranced by the beauty of the world we lived in.
