Leaves were falling, it was steadily getting colder outside, and it was now October.

Gina had promised Nic that she would take her, Kate, and Stan to the pumpkin patch today. So here they were, crammed into the backseat of Gina's car with 80s music playing softly in the background.

"I still think Jason's cooler than Ghostface," Stan says.

Nic rolls her eyes,"Jason's so dumb. Ghostface is definitely cooler."

Gina glances into the rearview mirror,"What are you two talking about back there?"

"Nothing," they reply.

"Jacob Stanley, your parents let you watch those movies?" Gina asks, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Well, not exactly," he says. It's obvious that his parents have no idea he's seen those movies.

"Hmm," she turns her eyes to Nic who is avoiding the mirror at all cost,"and how do you know about those movies, Isabella?"

Nic quickly glances at the mirror and sees Gina's eyes on her,"I can't say."

"Yes you can," Gina replies,"and you will. How do you know about those movies?"

Gina doesn't miss the look that Nic shoots Stan. She knows exactly how her daughter has seen them.

"When did you and Stan watch them together?" Gina asks.

The backseat grows eerily quiet. Kate isn't even a part of the conversation, but even she is getting nervous.

"Me and Stan?" Nic repeats, obviously aware that she's been found out.

Stan exhales loudly from the backseat and puts his head in his hands.

"Answer me," Gina says, her voice serious.

"Okay," Nic sighs,"yes, me and Stan watched some old horror movies. We didn't think it'd be a big deal."

"Is that why you hid it from me?"

Stan shoots a glare at Nic. She has just dug them an even deeper hole.

"Ms. Flynn," Stan starts, trying to keep his voice light,"we figured nobody'd want us to watch 'em, but they looked really cool so we watched 'em anyway. I'm sorry. It's my fault."

"Thank ya for apologizing, darlin'," Gina says,"now whose idea was this?"

Nic gives Stan a 'you better tell the truth' look. The last thing she wants is to be in trouble with Gina.

Stan rolls his eyes at her,"It was my idea."

Gina makes a humming noise and taps the steering wheel. She's quiet for a moment and then she says,"Bella?"

"Yes ma'am?"

"If I find out you've gone behind my back and watched anything you know you shouldn't be watching, you'll be in a lot of trouble. Do you understand?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Jacob," Gina says, an edge to her voice. She's known this boy since he was born and he's been a trouble maker since he could walk. She loves the kid, but she can't help but wish he'd grow out of his rebellious phase. If it even is a phase.

"Yes ma'am?" Stan's voice is almost a whisper, he already knows what Gina's gonna say next.

"The next time you come up with some bright idea that includes my daughter disobeying me and my rules, I'm gonna wear ya out. Do ya understand me?"

Stan's cheeks flush pink,"Y-yes ma'am."

"You better mean that," Gina warns,"cause I'm serious. I won't be saying it again."
