The week leading up to Gina and Will's wedding has been absolute chaos.
Gina's family has come over from Dublin, Ireland and are staying at her house. And as much help as they've been, it has been very stressful to have a house full of people all the time.
Although Will was still living in his own home, he was still at the cafe everyday. Just as he has been since he came back to town months ago.
It's finally the big day, and Gina is up before the sun is.
The house is quiet, except for soft snoring. It's peaceful, and despite everything, Gina feels this peace deep within herself.
He's proven to me that he's gonna show up at that altar today, she thinks, I trust him.
She gets her wedding dress out and starts to steam it. It's just as beautiful as it had been sixteen years ago. But it did have to be altered in a few places.
There's a soft knock at her door.
Who could be up at this hour?
Gina walks over to her door and opens it to reveal her mother.
"Mam," she greets, softly,"come in."
Maeve smiles at her daughter and walks into the room. She sees the dress and takes the steamer from her daughter's hand.
"Let me do this, dear," she says, picking up where Gina left off.
"Thank ya."
"Ya ready for today?"
"Yes," Gina gushes, unable to keep the smile from her face,"I feel like I've been ready for a long time."
"Well, ya have," Maeve laughs,"he's a good man, Gina."
"I know," she says, sitting on her bed.
Neither woman speaks for a while. When the dress looks perfect, Maeve sets the steamer down and sits next to her daughter. She places her hand on top of Gina's.
"Are ya at peace, Dear?"
"I am," Gina says, sure of her answer.
Her mother smiles at her,"And ya love him?"
"More than anything."
"Well, then," Maeve stands to her feet,"I have a bride to see to. How about I fix your hair for ya?"
"I'd love that, Mam."
Around seven o'clock, Saoirse enters the room, her brown hair in pink curlers.
"Good morning my beautiful sister!"
"Good morning, Saoirse," Gina laughs.
The three women talk about how the day will play out while they do their hair and makeup.
"Well," Gina begins,"I suppose I should go wake Bella so I can get her hair started."
"No," Saoirse says, quickly, standing up,"let me get her. I'm about done anyway."
Gina agrees and Saoirse leaves the room. She quietly descends the stairs and finds Nic sprawled out on her air mattress.
"Nic, darlin'," she whispers, touching the girl's cheek,"time to get up."
The girl grunts and throws the blanket over her head.
"C'mon, now, ya have to get up. I'm gonna do your hair for ya," she says, cheerfully.
"I'm tired," Nic whines from under the blanket.
"Your friend will be here soon. Don't ya wanna look pretty for him?"
