A/N: Alright my lovely friends, I have decided to post this one a bit earlier than normal. I'm very excited for this chapter and because of that, I have a request. Please leave as many comments as you'd like. I really wanna know your reactions to this chapter. Thank you and enjoy!!!
When there's a knock at the backdoor, Will debates on calling for Gina or just answering it himself.
I'll be her husband soon enough, so I reckon I should just get it, He thinks.
Upon opening the door, he looks down at the two children and relief washes over him.
"Well, welcome home, Bird," he says, smiling down at Nic.
"Bird?"
Will doesn't respond to Nic's criticism of her new nickname. He thanks Stan and waves goodbye to Lorie, before bringing Nic inside.
"Your Mama's gonna be real happy to see you."
My mama.
"Gina!" Will calls from the bottom of the stairs,"somebody's here to see you!"
"Tell 'em I'm busy!" she yells back.
"Woman, get down here!" Will replies, playfully.
A few seconds later, Gina's coming downstairs.
"This better be mighty important William Re-"
She goes still when she sees Nic standing in the living room.
"Oh, Bella!"
Running over, she hugs her daughter like she's scared to even think about letting go.
Nic starts crying almost immediately. Why had she ever run away? She felt so safe in her mother's arms at that moment. Had she really thought this woman would let someone hurt her?
"I'm sorry," Nic cries, clutching Gina,"I'm sorry for all of it."
"Oh, Darlin', shh, I forgive ya."
Gina rubs her daughters back and soaks in this moment, realizing she'll have to be stern in a second.
But not yet, she thinks, I can enjoy this first.
Once Nic has calmed down a bit, Gina leads her over to the couch and sits down with her. Will sits to their left in his favorite armchair.
"Bella, I'd like ya to explain to me why ya ran away instead of just talking about your feelings."
Nic keeps her eyes trained on the ground. She doesn't want to admit her reasoning because it's kind of embarrassing now.
"I dunno," she says, with a shrug.
"Ya do know and you're gonna tell me."
That sentence leaves no room for argument, so Nic takes a deep breath and starts talking.
"I didn't want Will to spank me," she admits,"I was... I just didn't want him to do it."
"Why not?"
I'm not going to say that I was scared with him sitting right here!
So she shrugs again.
"It scared you," Will says, matter of factly. He doesn't sound arrogant, just sure of his answer.
That makes Nic mad. Her head shoots up and she glares at him.
"I wasn't scared."
"You were."
"No," she snaps, standing up,"I wasn't."
