"So, Zola wanted to call me?" Nick asked in a serious tone turning his head toward Meredith. They were on their way home to her house. "Yes...Maggie told me a few days ago and I-I didn't know what to say." she replied staring down the road. Her own daughter wanted to call her boyfriend cause she noticed how miserable her mother was. That's not how it's supposed to be and she still felt bad. She took another deep breath "I guess she really missed you a lot." she smiled sadly turning her head towards him.

Nick grabbed her hand caressing it with his thumb to comfort her. He squeezed it slightly feeling how she got more relaxed into her seat again. He missed Zola, Bailey and Ellis a lot as well the last six months and he knew that her kids came first for her so he could just imagine that it hurt her, but he hoped with them being on a good way again will help the people he loved.

He remembered how Charlotte had yelled at him when he told her what had happened and that he walked away. She had questioned him what he was thinking and why the hell he did what he did when the woman he loved needed his support the most even if she tried to shut him out. Right now he was just glad that they're on their way to figure out to get back to normal and even make it better than it was before and improve their relationship.

Nick was still caressing and holding onto her hand and she really was excited to see him with her children again. She started smiling while picturing them as a family with all the up and downs that will happen and that are totally normal. "What are you smiling about?" she heard him asking slightly chuckling himself.

"You know, I was just thinking about how they will react when they see you again. I bet you won't even be able to take off your shoes before they will all jump at you like little monkeys who missed their favourite tree." she now laughed smiling bright at him. "So you are now comparing me to a tree?" he asked offended trying to stay serious. "Very kind of you Mer really, I feel honered" he said making a face at her.

That made her laughing even more and she noticed that he couldn't hold himself back anymore. After what felt like an eternity they eventually stopped and he took her hand kissing it softly. It instantly spread a warm feeling around her heart and she leaned over to his side and gave him a kiss quick kiss on his cheek.

"But seriously Mer, I'm thrilled to see them again. I missed them." he said smiling warm and she just nodded smiling back at him. He parked his car in her driveway cutting off the engine.
"Home" she said breathing in deeply looking over to him. He saw nervousness in her eyes and he could relate to it. As happy as he was to see and spend time with them again he was still nervous how they would react seeing him after such a long time.

She opened the door while her heart was beating like crazy. Nick was right behind her holding onto her hand supporting her. She stepped inside, put her purse aside, squeezed Nicks hand again and went into the living room were Bailey and Ellis were sitting around the table playing a game and laughing.

"Hey guys, how was your day?" she greeted them opening her arms cause Ellis and Bailey were already on their way to give her a hug. "Mommy your home!" Ellis squealed giving her a big hug while snuggling herself into her mother's chest. Bailey hugged her too and gave her a quick kiss.

"Where is your sister" she asked while caressing through Bailey's hair. "She is upstairs doing her homework" Ellis replied not letting go of her. "Okay. Can you two wait here for a second while I get your sister? Cause I have a surprise for you later." she said smiling at her children. She was proud of them, probably the proudest mom on this planet. They're everything for her and having Nick around her made it even better.

He heard her going upstairs to get Zola. They decided that Mer would talk first to Zola to asks her wether it was okay if he would stay with them tonight cause Zola had a lot going on right now herself and they didn't wanted to overwhelm her.
