Dinner date

After Meredith and Nick had changed they walked towards Nicks car. He rushed so he could open the door for her, "Here you go" he says smiling at her. "Thank you" she says gratefully getting into the passenger seat. Mer could feel the exhaustion overcoming her, even though the day was exciting with every single little intervention, the surgery was still complicated which explains why she's getting tired now. Nick walks around the car and starts the engine to finally drive home. He could feel that Meredith was getting tired, so he was thinking about what to cook for dinner tonight. Her kids are at her sister's place, so he could show her his apartment and they could maybe even look at the stars tonight if it wouldn't be cloudy. He grabbed her hand caressing it with his thumb slowly and he felt how she relaxed into the seat a little more. "Are you tired?" he asks while keeping his eyes on the road. Meredith shifted slightly and turned towards him. "I'm just exhausted and glad that I don't have to drive home" she says chuckling slightly. "Yeah I can imagine, you were great today" he replies glancing over to her smiling warmly. "I was thinking about making pasta tonight, would that be okay?" he asks since that was probably the quickest and easiest dish he could make. "That sounds awesome" Mer states as her eyes light up a little. Ten minutes later Nick was already pulling up into his driveway and turning his car off.

Nick takes out his keys opening the door for her to step in first. She immediately recognises the familiar smell which made her feel comfortable. She takes off her shoes, hands her coat to him and starts exploring his apartment. It was nicely arranged and she really loved the open kitchen attached to the living room. There are two separated doors which she assumes are probably his bedroom and office. She felt Nick coming up behind her putting his arms around her shoulders. "What do you say, is it worse than you imagined?" he asks chuckling breathing in her scent. Her hair always smells like lavender, it's so unique and fits her perfectly. Mer let herself relax a little as she felt his muscular arms steady her from behind. "I actually really like it" she replies sighing content. "It feels cozy..., like- home" she continues her eyes still wandering around. "Good" he just says and pressed a kiss into her hair. He let his chin rest on her shoulder while caressing her hands. "What would you think about the idea of me making us dinner and you taking a bath during that time"? he asks hoping she would agree so he could set up the table nicely as a little surprise. Hearing Nick say that made her turn around in his embrace. "That would be okay for you?" she asks smiling looking at him with sparkling eyes. "Yes Mer, of course" he replies and kisses her softly. "Come on, let me show you the bathroom" he states taking her hand guiding her to his bedroom since it was attached to it. Nick took out some towels while Meredith got undressed. He started the bath for her as well as lighting candles and putting on some music. When he was done, Mer came inside with just her bra and panties left on, smiling as she sees how he had prepped her bath for her. "Thanks" she says giving him a kiss sliding her hands through his hair. "You're welcome" he replies kissing her soft lips again before dimming the light and closing the door behind him.

Nick walks back into the kitchen, turns on the stove and takes out a pot to be able to boil the pasta. While the pasta was cooking he started to set the table outside. The sky was clear and the moon was shining bright tonight which made it possible to look at the stars. He took out two candles and his nice cutlery and finished setting up the table. It was still fairly warm which let him realise that he could also get the pillows and blanket for his outdoor couch out of the closet. By now the pasta was done boiling and he quickly cut up some fresh tomatoes for his sauce.

Meredith was really enjoying her bath. It has been a long time since she was able to relax like this and she could feel how the hot water let her muscles relax. She closed her eyes breathing in the lavender scent from the bubble bath Nick had prepped for her. Him remembering that she likes lavender let her feel even more comfortable. Before getting out she dipped her hair into the water one last time and grabbed the towel to dry her body. She quickly ruffled through her hair so it wouldn't be soaking wet while dinner. Since she didn't bring any extra clothes, she decided to just steal some from Nick for now cause she was already smelling the fresh pasta.
