-Candace-
Much to Robin's annoyance, Steve had become an ongoing presence in my life now. I'm still surprised that Steve asked me out on a date. To be honest, I don't know what's more surprising to me, the fact that he wanted to take me out, or the fact that I told him no. Well, not no, just not right now.
I know he's not over Nancy. I'm not dumb. I heard him call Mike Nancy when he woke up in the back of Billy's car. He's still in love with her, and I will not allow myself to be used, no matter if it's Steve Harrington or not.
Barbra Holland's funeral was about a week after the article in the paper came out about Hawkins lab killing her. Of course only a select few of us know what really killed Barb, but at least her parents have some kind of closure now.
Robin decided she wanted to go to the funeral, even though by the time she died her and Barb weren't that close anymore. She was still her friend at one point and she wanted to properly say goodbye to her. Eddie ended up having to take me to the funeral because cheer practice ran a little late that day. I showed up right as the service was about to start. I saw Steve was talking to Nancy and Jonathan. Robin was standing off by herself by a tree.
I knew Steve wouldn't just leave Robin by herself, because I know Steve. I also know Robin very well, too. I knew Robin had picked that spot on her own and most likely told Steve to leave her alone until I got here.
I approached Robin first, and as I was walking towards her, I heard Nancy say, "What is Munson doing here?" to Steve.
I approached Robin and I hugged her. She's not one for hugs, but sometimes she makes exceptions for me in times like this. "Did you tell Steve to leave you alone?" I asked as I stepped back from her. She smirked.
"He's an annoyingly happy person," she said, acting like she couldn't stand it.
"Come on," I say, and I held my hand out to her and I pulled her away from the tree. We walked over to Steve, who smiled at me as we approached.
"Hey Munson," He greeted me, and he gave me a quick hug.
"Hi Harrington," I greeted him back.
"You guys ready to get some seats?" I ask, Robin nods.
"Yeah, definitely," Steve says, also nodding. "Let's go."
We headed to the service then, and we found seats in the back. I saw some of the Wheelers here. Mike waved at me when he saw me enter. I waved back at him, giving him a smile. The service was very nice. I couldn't help but think of what it must be like for Nancy and Robin right now. I couldn't imagine if I lost Robin, I'd be inconsolable.
After the service, I went with Robin so she could give condolences to Barb's parents. They were so happy that she was here. They were also happy to see Steve was here, too. They really liked him when he was dating Nancy. After I was done with them, Mike Wheeler came up to me, and he surprised me by hugging me around my torso.
"Hey Mike," I said, and I hugged him back. "Good to see you."
He stood back, smiling looking up at me. "Will showed us all the books you gave him. They're really cool."
I smiled happily, "Oh, he did? I'm glad he likes them."
Mike stood back from me, looking at me with a big smile. "He said you told him your brother runs a D&D club at the high school? That's so cool."
"Yeah, he's a big nerd," I joked.
Mike smiled, "He sounds cool to me."
"Mike!" Mrs. Wheeler called, "We're going."
