Jisoo's POV
The cold stone walls of the prison feel like they're closing in on me as I sit there, hugging my knees tightly. The silence is deafening. It's a place of endless waiting, a place where my thoughts circle around everything I've lost, everything I've failed at. There's no point in trying anymore. Hope has slipped through my fingers like sand, and I know I'm as good as dead when the sun rises.
But in this moment, when my mind is consumed by the crushing weight of everything, there's only one thing I desire. One person. Him. Taehyung. I need him to wake up. I need him to survive-because if I can't, then at least he must be the one to take justice for my family, for me. I failed, but maybe he could still finish this fight.
I close my eyes, remembering everything-my parents, Master Sungho, Chaeyoung, Jennie, and Taehyung. They were the few good things in my life, and now I'm here, isolated in this cold cell, facing an end that I never imagined would come so soon.
And then I hear it.
"Jisooshi... Jisooshi..."
The voice is faint, like a whisper, but it pulls me from my thoughts. I blink, trying to make sense of it, but everything seems so distant. The sound of my name... so real, so urgent. I quickly open my eyes, my breath caught in my throat.
A man stands before me, wearing the dark blue hanbok of an imperial guard. My mind races as I recognize him. It's Jimin. The Vice General.
"Jisooshi, are you alright? Let's go from here," he says softly, removing his hat, revealing his face.
I blink, trying to process what's happening. Jimin? How did he get here? Why is he here to help me?
My heart skips a beat, but the confusion is overwhelming. I feel frozen in place, my legs refusing to move, my mind clouded with too many questions. Why is he here now? How did he get into the prison without anyone noticing?
"How did you get here?" I ask, stepping back slightly and pulling my arm away from him.
Jimin's frown deepens. "It's not time for questions. Come with me, we need to hurry."
I hesitate. My mind races, but my body won't move. I don't understand. The world feels like it's falling apart, and here he is-offering me a way out. But I can't trust anyone. Not anymore.
"If I leave, they'll come after you. After everyone," I murmur, my voice shaky. I can't help but think about the consequences. If I escape, they'll punish anyone who helped me.
Jimin's expression doesn't change. "No one's going to know. If you want to end this, if you want justice for your family, you need to come with me. I have proof. Proof that will bring everything to light."
His words hang in the air, and for a moment, I can't believe what I'm hearing. Proof? The disbelief fills me, and I stare at him in confusion. What does he mean?
"What... What proof?" I ask, my voice quiet. I can hardly wrap my mind around it. Could this really be the key to everything?
Jimin pulls out a scroll and hands it to me. I take it, though I feel a strange weight in my chest. I unroll it, my eyes scanning the words. It takes a moment for it all to sink in, and then... the tears start. I wipe them away quickly, embarrassed by the sudden rush of emotion, but I can't help it. The weight of this document... It's real. It's real proof, proof that could change everything.
But my mind is still filled with doubt. "Who gave you this?" I ask, wiping my face. My voice shakes, my heart pounding in my chest. "I know you didn't get it by yourself. Who gave it to you?"
