Anthony never oversleeps. In fact, he can't remember the last time he woke up after 8 a.m. However, after the events from last evening, he felt pretty tired, or even better: he felt at peace. So he overslept, ignoring the fact that he was lying on a very small, very uncomfortable sofa.
None of that seemed to matter really. Not when the whole room smelled like lilies and soap. Like her.
Anthony smiled at the memory of her and all the things they did throughout the night. Best night of his life, quite possibly.
He opens his eyes, searching for her with his hands but finding just cushions and his clothes thrown all over the floor. He jumps to his feet, examining the room, trying to find her or at least find some proof that the previous night hadn't been a dream. Her smell and the vivid memories of her moans were enough proof of what had happened. So where was she?
- Have you seen Kate? - Anthony, now dressed, asked the first person he found on set after leaving his office.
- I don't think she arrived yet. Her car isn't in the parking lot.
Why did she leave? Did she regret it? Was it that bad? It felt pretty amazing to him, and from what he remembers Kate was more than satisfied too. Then why the hell did she leave? Anthony kept reliving every moment in his mind through the next hours, trying to find where he could've possibly messed up.
He almost missed the first rehearsals at noon, and the ones he watched were quickly forgotten, replaced in his mind by thoughts of her.
Five minutes past two (he checked the clock), Kate arrived. She looked fine, as if nothing really happened. That is until she saw him. Her eyes grew wider for less than a second, but enough for him to notice. After a motion of his head, she walked over to an empty corner where they could talk more privately, even if there were at least 50 people in the set.
- Are you okay? I was worried when I woke up and you weren't there. - he asks concerned.
- I'm fine. And I'm sorry I left, it's just... I had some things to do.
- Why do I feel like that's not true? - she avoided his eyes - Kate, I don't want you to feel pressured by anything. If it was a one night thing and you don't really like me like I like you, then...
- You like me?
- Of course I do! I thought it was obvious, especially after yesterday. But if you don't like me back that's... that's ok. I won't expect you to..
- No! That 's not it.
- Then what is it?
They both hear someone calling her name in the set, probably rushing her to get ready for rehearsal.
- Can we talk about this later? - she whispers.
- Yes, of course. My office?
- No... Actually, I thought maybe we could meet up at my apartment. If that's ok with you.
He was confused, obviously, but didn't hesitate to agree.
- Yes, whatever you want.
- Ok... I better go.
And so she goes.
The afternoon passes in the blink of an eye. Between rehearsals, makeup and dress fitting, Kate found herself too busy to even think about anything else. Anthony on the other hand, could only think of one thing: going to Kate's house. So it is fair to say his afternoon took an eternity to end. It seemed as if the night would never come.
