|Tessia's POV|I sat quietly in my room, watching the tree's outside my window sway in the late afternoon breeze. It was eerily silent in my room, as it always is. That was something that never changed.
It was lonely.
'I wonder what my parents and Art are talking about. Do they know each other?' I thought to myself as I grabbed the small plush bear that mom had gotten me for my birthday a year ago. She knows I don't like sleeping alone.
"Art is nice right, Gabby?" I asked the plush bear in my hands, lifting her up and watching as her head tilts in the slightest.
"Art is the boy I found earlier today! He has white hair, and one red eye. His other eye is like gold. It's really pretty." I said as my face suddenly felt warm. Hugging Gabby close, I lay back on my bed before twisting to my side.
"...I hope they let him stay..."
"He is staying, little one!" I jolt up at the sound of my grandpa's voice. Turning to look at him, he wore a bright smile with eyes that seemed to be laughing silently at me.
"Grandpa!! Knock next time!" I yell, suddenly feeling embarrassed as I threw a pillow and a book at him.
"Going to have to aim next time, little one." He laughs as he lets the items sail past him. He then walks over to my bed and sits beside me.
"Anyway, Arthur will be staying with us for a while, little one. I suggest you go make him feel comfortable." He says while ruffling my hair. A gasp escapes me as I look up at him, watching as he nods again in confirmation.
"Really?! He can stay?"
"Yes! Now go say hello to your future husband. He's in the next room over." My face flushes at his words as I get up and bolt out of the room.
Stopping in front of the large door of the room beside mine, I knock lightly, waiting for a response.
"Ah, coming!" After a moment, the door opened and Art stood on the other side of it. A towel hung around his shoulders while water dripped from his now wet hair as he smiled at me.
"Art! You're staying!" He smiles brightly at me and nods enthusiastically.
"Yeah, your grandpa said I could stay." His voice is soft, and mix-matched eyes reflect genuine happiness that made my heart beat a little faster than it should.
I wonder why?
"Come on! I'll show you around the palace!" I quickly grabbed his hand and turned around, hoping he didn't see my cheeks flush. It was so weird.
I felt like I've known him for a long time now, but I know I've never met him before. He just seemed so familiar...
Shaking myself out of my thoughts, I pointed out the different rooms within the castle as we walked along the almost never ending corridors. We'd went up stairs, and slowly made our way back down, while he asked questions every now and then. It was funny watching him run about in the halls, kind of like an excited puppy!
He was just so cute!
My face suddenly flushes at the thought, just as Art turns to face me. His bright smile turns into a concerned frown as he makes his way over toward me.
"Tess?? What's wrong? Why is your face so red? Do you have a fever?" He asks a chorus of questions while moving my bangs away from my face, placing his cool hand against my forehead. I felt my face flush further as I stepped back with wide eyes.
"Y-yes I'm okay! It's j-just a little hot" I mentally facepalm at my stammering, sounding like an absolute idiot in front of him.
"Are you sure??"
"Yes! I'm okay, I promise. Let's go..see the garden!" I exclaimed as I took hold of his hand, both of us sprinting down the halls and past a few startled maids as I led him toward the royal garden.
It only took us a minute to get there, and as we approached the pathway to the garden, Art slowed down. I look back at him, mildly wondering why he slowed down. Though, I'm granted the sight of wide mix-matched eyes. Looking forward, the sky had darkened into navy blue with bright stars littering the cloudless sky.
Small orbs of light float around the peaceful garden while the nocturnal wildlife could be seen off in the distance, running about in the garden. The grass shone a vibrant green as the moon casts silvery light over everything.
"It's beautiful.." I heard Art murmur as he continued to ogle the scenery. I giggle as he reaches out to catch a floating glowbie, but fails as it comes to rest against his nose instead, causing his eyes to cross as he looks at it.
"What are these?" His curious eyes looked over at me as he tenderly held the glowbie in the palm of his hands.
"These are glowbies, they're mildly sentient plants. I'm glad you're here to see them harvesting!" I explained as I caught a few and held them out to Art. He took hold of them carefully as he scrutinized them with wonder.
He's just so cute!
"Tess—" Before he could finish his sentence, he suddenly grabbed my wrist and pulled me behind him. I tripped over his foot just as I felt his body jolt, scraping my knee hard against the ground in the process. Involuntary tears brimmed my eyes at the sudden burning pain as I moved to sit on my bum instead of my knees.
"W-what was that for?" I asked as I looked up at him. He stood stock still, and out of curiosity, I leaned a bit and peered up at his face. Only to find that he had an arrow in hand, the arrow head just a centimeter away from the space between his eyes.
"Wow Elder. Where'd you pick this one up from??" A soft, smooth voice echoed all around us, before a dark haired elven woman stood before us.
"Aya! You could've killed him!!" Another more authoritative, yet kind voice calls out as a woman with silverish white hair and pale blue eyes appears beside her.
"Heh, calm down Alea. You couldn't have killed him even if you wanted to." Grandpa cackles as he emerges from the bushes close by.
"You could've hurt Tessia." A sudden unbearable weight bares down on me, stealing the air from my lungs. My hand shakily touches my throat as the constricting feeling gets worse before suddenly lifting.
"Tess? I'm sorry! Are you okay??" I gasped in air as I felt his hands caressing my cheeks. Concern swam freely in his eyes while I tried to slow my fast breaths.
"Elder...what the hell is that kid??"
"...Let's just call him an anomaly."
