Oh. I'd heard of 5 Seconds of Summer; everyone always argued about them in the comments of punk music videos. However, I'd never bothered to search them up - my life had been pretty... Busy recently, and I hadn't had much time to spare.
"Oh, I've heard of them. Not really my type... I'm more into punk rock." I smiled politely. His eyes widened and his cheeks reddened.
"We are pu- wait, never mind. Whatever." He sighed, shaking his head, and walked away. Jack chased after him, grabbing his arm and pulling him out of earshot.
"Sorry, he's not usually like that. Anyways, how long are you here for?" Celeste smiled, trying to make conversation. But all my attention was focused on the intriguing moody boy with the blond quiff.
"Huh? Oh, I just moved here, actually, so hopefully permanently." I chuckled. Her eyes widened and her hands came to her mouth.
"OMG YAY!" She squealed. "Sorry, it's just like, super exciting." I grinned widely at her. We chatted for a while, but my attention was focused on Luke the whole time. He turned his head and met my gaze, he must have known I was staring. Embarrassed, I looked down at my Converse. "So, where do you live now?" Celeste asked. My head snapped up and I gave her my address. Her jaw dropped wide open.
"No. Way. Jack, come here!" Jack turned and walked over to us, Luke following slowly. "Say hi to our new neighbour!"
---------------------
Of course, being the polite person Celeste is, she offered to drive me home seeing as I only lived next door. My head was spinning like the wheels of my suitcase on the gravel of the car park - partly because of the caffeine overload and partly because everything was happening so fast, and I couldn't keep up.I wasn't exactly prepared for meeting new people - I had on my old, scuffed trainers, ripped black skinny jeans and a baggy hoodie. My red hair was scraped into a messy bun and my only makeup was eyeliner and mascara, which was totally smudged and in need of re-applying.
"Ah, shìt!" I cursed as I ran my toe over with the wheel of my suitcase. Reflexively, my grip loosened on the handle and it fell to the floor, leaving me hopping on the spot with my foot in my hand. I looked up to see Jack and Celeste moving towards me, but Luke just stood in between the security guards, laughing like an imbecile. Such a gentleman.
Jack took my suitcase and put it on his trolley while his wife tried to soothe my foot. "Just get in the car, Luke." She grumbled. He obeyed, still laughing, and hopped into the back of a shiny black Range Rover.
We followed, and of course, I had to sit with Luke. He took one look at me and started laughing again, not bothering to cover his mouth. Despite the scowls everyone gave him, he carried on. "It wasn't that funny..." I mumbled, letting my window down and allowing the warm Australian air hit my face for the first time.
"Uh, yeah, it kind of was." He snickered, taking his phone from his pocket arrogantly. I shuffled uncomfortably in my seat, accidentally hitting his arm with the hem of my hoodie. His muscle tensed and he looked at me disgustedly. "Watch what you're doing, will you?" He sighed, following up with some inaudible insult. I carried on staring out of the window, trying to cool my flushed face. Every time I looked through the corner of my eye, I could feel his eyes on me, probably judging me.
This was going to be a long ride.A/N: I forgot to add an a/n again fml 😂 anywayyy, I hope you're enjoying the story! It will get more exciting soon, and you'll find out ALL about Kaya's past ;)
QOC: should I start doing a 'song of the chapter' that I listened to while writing or that fits in with the chapter?
