Mandy's POV

"What's so important anyway that you couldn't wait another day?" I rolled my eyes at my mother, who was willfully ignoring me. I was trying not to step on her train of silken cloth while I trailed behind her. I wore a turquoise dress, that had patterns up the bust, and creases that hugged my waist. It had a train behind, but at front, it showed off my legs. At such a short notice, this was the only thing out of my wardrobe that couldn't possibly embarrass me.

Mother on the other hand was well-prepared. She wore a glamorous dirty-white gown. It was a strapless, glittery ensemble that just fans out beautifully at the back. Sometimes, I wondered if I could stay that young-looking and sexy after two children. Maybe not.

While I was trying to make out what was happening with my mother, who was currently grinning from ear to ear, we slowly approached the entrance of the function room. Strangely, it was closed, and mother had to knock. I heard some cheering and clapping from the other side of the 10-foot wooden doors.

"What kind of party are you throwing, anyway?" I asked her as she stood by my side and waited for the doors to open. What's taking so long? I honestly didn't care why, or what, or how this party came to be. I just wanted this over with.

"An engagement party, dear." I almost choked at that. I turned to look at her, with eyes wide.

"WHAT? You're getting married, again? Why did I not hear of this sooner?" I screeched at her, my tone kicking it up a notch. She just scoffed at me.

"Goodness, no. Let's not jump to conclusions." She just said coolly. I raised my brow.

"Well... who's getting married, then?" My attention pulled away from my smirking mother's face, to the sound of doors opening, and a large crowd staring straight at me.

"Isn't it obvious?" She started to walk forward, and at the doorway, looked back at me.

"You."

Back at present

I really didn't take it well. Specially when I saw who was at the receiving end of the shocking news. I almost strangled Luke when I saw him at the party, and his father announced that it was decided for us to get married soon. But he said that he had no idea himself and that he was told that that was a charity event. I sighed, texted, and walked toward Elle and Jake.

Tyl, ma. 143.

I pressed send. And almost immediately, I got a reply.

Speak in English, young woman.

I smiled to myself. Mom still hasn't completely figured out this whole texting thing. It was funny how someone whose business involved so much technology, knew so little about it.

TYL means Text You Later, ma... and 143 means I love you -.-”

I looked up at Zee's disapproving face.

“What?” I said. She just rolled her eyes at me.

“What took you so long?” Jake complained. “It's HOOOOOOOOOOOOT.” He groaned, looked at Elle's drink, and smiled. When she wasn't looking, he grabbed it at took a sip. She gaped at him. He shoved it back to her hand, and she just gave it a disgusted look. She passed it to me, and just turned and walked inside. Luke caught up behind me. I shrugged my shoulders, and drank the Coke. I looked back at my phone to see my mom's reply, and followed Elle in.

Oh, ok. Tyl. 143 too. :)

I stopped when Zee did.

“Hey guys. Sorry to keep you waiting.” I heard her talk to someone. “Some people are just over protective about their car." I was about to tell her to put a sock in it, when I looked up.

Guilt.

Shock.

Stupidity.

Confusion.

PURE. JOY.

I felt all of those when I saw the familiar face. Then I looked at Elle, then at my drink, then back to Elle.

“ZEEEEEEEE! What did you give me?!” I grabbed her shoulders and jerked her back and forth. She was smiling victoriously, but was a little shaken.

“What are you talking about!?” She gave me an I-told-you-so look, and a death glare at the same time, so I let go of her.

“You gave me drugs woman! I'm high, I'm seeing things!” I threw both my hands beside my head, and shook my head furiously. “Liam is right in front of me. WHAT THE F-”

“You're not high! They're literally in front of you.” She explained. I breathed in and out, and stepped closer to Liam. I'm dreaming. This isn't real. I told myself. I narrowed my eyes on him, and raised my arm, and...

I poked Liam on the face. I widened my eyes.

“OH MY GOD. You're right!” I stared at him. And it wasn't just him there! The boys were all present.

I immediately felt guilty.

So Elle was telling the truth... I stared at all of them, disbelievingly. And I think I stared for too long. I blushed when they took a step back. I just shut up. I really don't think that was the best first impression.

I was thinking how horrible a person I am when I heard Luke shout. I snapped out of my trance and looked back at Jake and Luke complaining. I giggled a bit with Elle and immediately turned to help him with the luggage. I stood beside him and took my bags.

“What's bugging you?” Luke said. As if he needed to ask. He probably heard my thoughts already. “Hey, it was a friendly gesture.” He countered. I just shrugged and walked toward the boys again. Zee was just introducing us when Louis... Oh my God, LOUIS. Uhh... shoved Liam out of the way?

“So what exactly happened on the phone?” He said straight forward. We all looked at each other confusedly.

“What phone?” Elle said.

Luke's POV

Ow, shit! I said in my head when this Louis guy's thoughts came flooding in my head. I squinted and Mandy saw me. She gave me a questioning look, and I leaned over to tell her.

“Broadcaster.” I pointed at Mr. Stripes here, and looked back at her. “Angry. Very.” She just widened her eyes, and looked down.

You were telling the truth. - A SPIDER?! It was all because of a SPIDER?! - I squinted when Mandy and Louis spoke in their heads at the same time. I held my head.

“It's ok..” I smiled at her, and moved closer to Louis and further from her. She smiled back at me. Then I saw a scene in my head. It was from Louis. In it he was panicking with the boys, and thinking of something bad. I laughed to myself. He had a colorful imagination.

“What did it sound like anyway?” Zee asked. Louis was about to reply, when Harry interfered.

“IT SOUNDED LIKE YOU GUYS WERE HAVING A FOURSOME!” I burst into laughter, along with the other guys. The girls just looked at us weirdly.

If they only knew.
