Li Jie also booked a carriage for the three of them. Going on foot would risk a lot of attentions and by the end of the journey, someone would definitely recognise Zizhen.

Zizhen and Jingyi sat side by side, while Li Jie sat in front of them. The atmosphere was pretty awkward and silent.

Zizhen laid his head on Jingyi's shoulder. He was sleeping, peacefully.

“So…Li Jie, right? If you don't mind me asking, of course! Why did you become a magician? Isn't it pretty dangerous since you could get killed for that?“ Jingyi queried. Curiosity finally killed the cat.

Li Jie was taken aback from that question. Ever since he became a magician, people always told him that it is sinister when other persons are out there doing demonic cultivation. It was the first time someone sincerely asked about it.

“I grew up watching Wei Wuxian and his demonic cultivation. Back then, I lived with my father before he passed away. He used to show me magic tricks, saying he is better than Wei Wuxian and I should admire him too. I did admire my father a lot and still do. When he passed away, it was difficult to cope with it. I lost all hopes when I came across his magic book. It was the only thing left from him and the only way to keep him beside him, so from then, I started being a magician to make kids and people happy like how my father made me,” He explained.

Jingyi softly smiled. He held Zizhen's hand for comfort. He also lost his parents, twice. “I'm sorry. I'm sure that wherever your father is, he would be very proud of you,” He said.

Li Jie felt his heart warm at Jingyi's words. He nodded, gratefully and said, “Thank you, Jingyi.“

“Do you live alone now?“ Jingyi asked again. He felt worry about the traveller now. It could be a danger for him.

Li Jie chuckled and shook his head. “No, not anymore,” He said, with a brightening smile.

Jingyi raised his eyebrows in a teasing manner. He knew what…or more like, who caused his smile like that.

At this moment, Zizhen woke up, yawning loudly. He tried to stretch his arms, only to find his hand being held by Jingyi.

Jingyi quickly noticed Zizhen's change in behaviour. He let go of his hand as soon as possible.

Zizhen frowned slightly at the lost of the warmth. He pouted and looked at Jingyi. “Why did you let go? Look, my hand is so cold now,” He said.

Jingyi rolled his eyes and ignored Zizhen. He looked outside, from the window with a slight red tinted on his cheeks.

Around thirty minutes later, they arrived at Li Jie's place. It was a cottage found near the border of the village.

Li Jie and Zizhen took some of the stuffs, while Jingyi walked in the house carefree. “That young master… He is really something, isn't he?“ Li Jie said.

Zizhen smiled, dreamily. “Mhm, really something. I'd be ready to give him my heart,” He said and went inside immediately.

“Yeah—EH?! What did you say?“ Li Jie yelled. He watched Zizhen who was walking inside with some of his luggage. Li Jie picked the rest of it and ran behind him.

There, inside, Jingyi was waiting for them. As soon as he saw Li Jie, he said, “Your place is really pretty and comfortable.“

Li Jie happily smiled. “Thank yo—”

“Where should I put our luggage?“ Zizhen cut him off. He looked around and found no place to put their stuffs down.

Li Jie glared at him for interrupting. “On my head!“ He tsk-ed and went back to Jingyi.
